St. Helens Rugby Football Club is a globally recognised professional Rugby League club based in St. Helens, Merseyside, which was founded in 1873 and plays in the Super League. Nicknamed the 'Saints', the club is one of the oldest members of the Rugby Football League - in 1895 the club were one of 22 clubs that resigned from the Rugby Football Union and established the Northern Union.
Since the inception of Super League in 1996, St. Helens have become the most successful side of the summer era and have won the League Championship and Challenge Cup each on 12 occasions in its history as well the World Club Challenge twice in 2001 and 2007. The club has appeared in 11 out of the last 12 Challenge Cup semi finals and won the Grand Final once again in 2014.
St. Helens R.F.C. was situated at its former ground Knowsley Road from 1890 until 2010 and, following a season on the road in Widnes, moved into a state-of-the-art new 18,000 capacity stadium in early 2012. The fabulous new stadium is the premier venue for conferences and events in the area. The versatility of its function rooms means the Totally Wicked Stadium can accommodate from 2 to 400 people and up to 1,000 people in matchday hospitality.
