SYNOPSIS
The Green Way Up finds interesting stories from the world of sustainability and packages them up in fun and exciting ways, to share with a worldwide audience both online and through TV. The Green Way Up's first television series, The Aussie Way Up, is being shown on National Geographic Adventure Channel in over 120 different countries as of Jan 15th, 2012.
BACKGROUND/AUSTRALIAN SERIES
In 2010, Bob, Chuck, Oscar and Justin hatched the idea of creating a documentary about a group of Gen Y Aussies breaking the world record for 'longest overland journey on sustainable fuels' (a 55000km journey from Tasmania to Norway) in the name of making sustainability fun for all. In short, they believed that environmental movement often alienated everyday men, women and children through needless politicisation or guilt association.
In 2011, the guys drove 12000kms around Australia on biodiesel, filming the first leg of their epic journey and also covering off other interesting stories in the Australian environmental scene. They were trailed by documentary film team Candid Productions and the subsequent 12 part series was sold to National Geographic Channel (Washington DC) for Australia/NZ, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. DCD Rights (London) later acquired the series to distribute throughout N. America and Europe.
CURRENT FOCUS
The team is now developing their second series which will see them complete the international component of the trip, from Australia to Norway.
