Absolute sh!tshow. Cronyism and incompetent sales leaders. Disfunctional ad server teams constantly misdelivering campaigns. Clients laugh at ROI data. Commission underpaid and refused to be corrected. Only reason I gave more than 1 star is had some decent peers (who were as frustrated as I was)

This company is spiraling downwards FAST. Very poorly managed. There's a serious lack of communication overall but especially between leadership and departments. The remote friendly environment was nice while it lasted.
Expect:
KPIs/quotas to change constantly, even last minutes changes at reporting time.
reporting discrepancies that directly affect your pay without resolution.
Getting "in trouble" with manager A for doing what manager B said.
To constantly feel like you might randomly get fired that day.
To have new management every quarter.
To have to go back on offers to clients.
Don't expect:
Recognition for achievements
To be able to sell the same solutions today that you did yesterday

Great challenge, cool product, but completely mismanaged and federal laws not on their side.

What is the best part of working at the company?
If you like challenging and chaotic start up environments, this job is definitely for you.
What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No processes in place, very random decision making.
What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Culture is toxic, lot's of backstabbing and favoritism.
What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You work about a 10 hour day if you want to be successful. Pay is low even if you overperform. I would've had to have sold over 200% of quota to make even close to what I wanted to earn. Lot's of standard operating procedures that are chaning constantly but not being updated in the right places.

Fun but uncertain
|
Remote work was great. Many days off. It’s a fun environment with laid back colleagues, but it came with lots of changes that caused confusions and uncertainties. Re-orgs were on the horizon.

The Cannabis industry is volatile and Weedmaps is no different.

A typical work day is 12 hours. The company motivates its employees through use of threat of job loss. The company is struggling to understand what a publicly traded company should look and feel like, let alone work like. The Cannabis industry is volatile and Weedmaps is no different. Leadership at the company ranks lower than most start-up firms even though the company is 10+ years old

TOXIC but great benefits compared to most cannabis companies

Cons: Very toxic environment, not much transparency and many processes are held as "tribal knowledge" which creates a steep learning curve. Wasn't set up for success when I started the position with Endless fires to put out starting on day 1 of my employment! Management places blame on lower level account reps to make themselves look better. Favoritism is huge at Weedmaps. It's important to stroke leaderships ego if you want to make it here. If you don't, you will be let go. Very high turnover rate in the sales department. Reps are moved around with different books of business every 60-90 days making it impossible to build trusting relationship with accounts. Customers are not happy with many of the ways Weedmaps does business and it’s probably the worst thing I could have done for my reputation within the cannabis industry. Known as “greed maps”. Management leads with fear and doesn't provide much guidance at all. I have had the worst anxiety in my entire career since working here. Was told by management if I'm not working 50-60 Hours a week I'm not working hard enough. Encouraged to oversell customers which can damage long term relationships. Only concerned about the bottom line. No empathy shown for customers or employees. There is a reason why you are given a nice base salary here - it’s is nearly impossible to reach your goals and obtain your OTE. Company over hires & lays off really great employees on a regular basis. No job security.
Pros: free lunch if you go into the office, benefits are great and future employers like to see Weedmaps on your resume as it is widely known company.( If you are looking to stay in the cannabis industry). I enjoy my co- workers. Many very interesting and nice people outside of management.

Weedmaps is an EXCELLENT company. No company is perfect, but they were as close as you could ask in my opinion. There is a high bar for expectations and you are expected to meet them. I'm very competitive, but if you don't love aggressive (but fair) KPIs, this is not the place for you. Growth at Weedmaps is tremendous. They proved time and time again that they will promote from within and I saw proof of that first-hand. This is the best company I have worked for regarding internal promotion and personal success. This is obviously a cannabis driven organization, so if you are not pro-cannabis, this MIGHT not be the place for you. Weedmaps is not excessive though and I believe someone who was fairly neutral about cannabis regulations could still work here and not feel like it's being forced down on a daily basis, because it's not. My experience was as a contractor and when my contracted ended, it was a sad day for me. I really loved working at Weedmaps.
