Long days but also long weekends
|
Shifts at broken coast cannabis are 10hrs long, but you always have a 3 day weekend. Great comeraderie between co workers. HR and management are very approachable and accessible.
Would recommend if you can stand for hours at a time.

Very sad place to work employees are unhappy
|
Not a good place to work no room for advancement ,you are just a number Management doesn’t care about you as an individual person or human being they just want more production doesn’t matter if you hurt yourself or are sick you are expected to show up to work or else you are called to the office

Run a way they are horrible
|
You get paid $17,50 with no advancement.
No one knows what's going on and it's run by Kids. HR is the worst, Run away. Don't work here. The only good thing, you could use your headphones.

Better pay
|
Working at Broken Coast has been very interesting. There has been tons of change (good and not so good), promised advancement and raises but sadly that is not the case. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed working at BC but pay is definitely an issue. If you are running a room, filling out paperwork etc you should be paid accordingly.
Hopefully things will change........

Great place to work
|
At Broken Coast I have great co-workers, I have weekends off. Even though I would like to make more we are given a living wage and a awesome yearly bonus. I have never worked somewhere that has so many perks.. free lunches, staff parties, swag. I’m always learning something new and have a great support team. I’ve been at this job almost 4 years and it’s been great 😊

keep your head down and don't talk
|
be prepared to keep your head down and do not talk or chat with your co workers about anything.
managers are not supportive and will throw you under the bus
HR is not helpful and generally just sides with the managers
they have gone through so many good people - it's upsetting to see what this place has become now.
you will be constantly guilted into pushing through 10 hour days and working weekend and then have months of early days and not enough hours.
while I was working there we went through a fire and everyone got stuffed into a tiny room - lots of people complained that it caused health issues and we were told to suck it up or leave.
toxic workplace - stay away!

I don’t get the low rating.
|
I don’t get the low rating. The pay is fair, the benefits are more than decent, the environment is upbeat and social, most people only work four days a week, there’s great yearly bonuses but most importantly, these folks will treat you right. Believe me, I worked for another huge cannabis grower in Nanaimo and that company would never consider treating their staff the way the staff at Broken Coast are treated. At Broken Coast you’re a person, not just a numbered drone.
Ask questions at your interview; if you don’t think the wage, schedule or benefits are fair, don’t take the job.
|
Three days off a week.
|
Time consuming commute (but that’s not Broken Coasts’ fault).

A Big Yikes
|
Worked here three years ago and was my first job out of college, so I easily brushed off daily manager tantrums as 'workplace stress' issues and continued to work hard. Questioned the work of my peers due to hearing my managers gossip about how badly their employees are trained and how their employees dont know anything -- then got fired for 'being cocky' two weeks before my three month probation was up
|
Lots of drugs, good coworkers
|
Management is difficult, pay isnt worth the emotional abuse, HR is too busy with their own issues to help employees

Fun workplace, values work life balance
|
Enjoyed my time there, it was a fun workplace, great people, great employee parties and bonus. Everyone was approachable, including managers and HR. Salary could be a higher for trim but heard other departments earn more. Starting wage is 16 but in a year 17.

Oh my!
|
Dont bother, you won't get paid enough to survive on vancouver island.
It's a horrible old leaky building with mould and air quality problems.
Managers and HR are quite... unproffesional, too busy with personal problems to be effective.
