Needs a revamp

Not enough employees to keep the store looking presentable for guests and to keep up with tasks. Inventory accuracy isn’t a priority which is concerning as there orders to be fulfilled.

Kind people but depressing workplace

As in-person shopping has moved to more online shopping, fewer people are going to Macys and the environment before I left a few years ago was quite depressing.

It was an amazing experience to say the least. I learned a lot from the boss in my department and without her I don’t think I would of progressed as much as I did in this. Very heavy labor, worked about 40 hours a week monday through friday. The higher ups were always outstanding! The amount of work is not for the feint of heart, but the people make it worth it.

Macy's used to be a great place to work at one time but have very strict operations rules for employees. Lunches are for an hour but can be interrupted when you have a customer arrive. Pay is way too low, especially when you're on a budget. Commission structure is competitive with your fellow salespeople who steal your sales, which continues to happen in just about any retail environment.

|
Store Manager and Human Resource managers are snakes. I was hired for.a mattress position and I got thrown into the Home Dept, Kids and Toys. Bunch of liars. I got screwed out of my commission on a mattress sale. I had no life. not compensated and spent my days off in bed because I was exhausted. This store is closing the end of the year. They fire the good employees and keep the dead wood. I had enough

Management ignores you and pushes you out
|
The company is dying so it doesn’t really matter anyways, but our new people leader spoke maybe 2 sentences to me my last month. They overstaffed us after Christmas then gave all the part time people the bare minimum 12 hours a week when there was no work to do. If you don’t do any job in the store, they decide you’re someone who doesn’t wanna work and you’ll never be able to work back from that. They fire the good leads to save money and everyone knows it. Management does this weird thing where they pretend we’re not all gonna lose our jobs and just smile and nod when we come to them with problems. Never expect an answer to anything.
