The other people in the work place were amazing and inspiring people to work with.

A year after leaving, I am still scarred from my experience at dignity. They did not care about you as a human being taking difficult and emotionally draining calls back to back. They gave you limited time to recover from a call before pointing out that calls are waiting and you need to take another. If you got emotional or took too much time away from the phones, management made you feel like an inconvenience and suggested that you should look at going part time.
The micromanagement is incredibly patronising. If you are 2 minutes late logging on, they will add 2 minutes to the end of your shift. You have to put yourself into toilet code which starts ticking the moment you press it. To make it worse, all staff can see how long you’ve been in toilet code which is just humiliating.
They advertise weekly coaching when in reality you are taken into a room and criticised for all the things you’ve done wrong and made to feel awful at your job.
You are not allowed on your phone whilst on shift. All websites are blocked on your laptop. During quieter periods you will be waiting to take a call for up to an hour. During this time, all you can do is stare at the wall. It was completely mind numbing.

Remove the constant monitoring
Treat staff like humans and not lap dogs
Provide stimulation during quieter periods
Use weekly coaching to enhance people’s skills (listening, communication, empathy) not judge their calls.
