I gave the role a good shot by turning up to work and attempting to do the work as best as I could. I had trouble using one of the programs and grasping the tasks included within my role. This lead me to be stressed and unhappy. I was not very good at the job and that is completely understandable as to why I didn’t stay long. There were also times where there was not much to go over so I would be sitting there staring at a blank screen, fidgeting or trying to find something to do. Working there made me realise it was not the company and roll for me. All the people in my department were lovely and always helped me where they could. I liked that there was a gym and a large tea room with a coffee machine and other appliances as well as some food/snacks. Breaks were a good amount of time and we were allowed to choose what time we go. I am going to be honest I was a bit intimidated by a particular member of the company in a higher up position. I didn’t feel comfortable with the way I was spoken to in person and via email. This caused me to cry and fear that colleague when I saw them. I understand the frustration and anger due to my poor performance but at there was definitely a miscommunication at the beginning. They were harsh and did not consider how new I was and that I was still learning. The training was too brief and left us feeling unprepared to answer the non stop stressful calls. Product not being loaded to sell causes big issues for the travel agents who use us and for our own staff. Just terrible. Management favouring certain people who help them out. A lot of staff hated this, apparently part of the culture there for some time. Very poor pay for workload and stress and very high turnover of new staff who are paid a lot less than old staff. No incentives either. Very disappointing because I hoped to stay in travel long term.
