So called mid level management culture was sad. - There is a quick turnaround of staff. - Concerns have been feedback to managers but no further actions carried out by them, so staff service quality to clients are deteriorated and ignored. - You are under the impression you are joining a large professional planning team, while in reality you are joining a large team of people who don’t want to be there managed by someone with no real understanding of business/customer needs who leads with the stick rather than the carrot. - Rude, arrogant and aggressive. - Some unconscious bias and lack of professionalism and intrapersonal skills in some of management. - Becoming a toxic place to work - Bullying, finger-pointing and failure is entrenched in the entire culture of Business Services - Worst experience of my career to date and I consider myself a robust/resilient person. Egotistical partners who lack the ability to forward plan for resources and take it out on their staff. Uninspiring work. - Avoid! -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 0.0 1.0 2.0 2.0 4.0 2.0 2.0 1.0 1490093 Open See cons 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 1.0 Open Mar 25th, 2024 12:10AM Mar 25th, 2024 12:10AM Alfa Financial Software

lon:alfa https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=1490093 Dec 13th, 2023 12:00AM Open Open Alfa Financial Software Senior Software Engineer London, England CEO leadership is creating complacency and low motivation The training is fantastic for someone starting in the industry. The mentorship as i started out is something I deeply value and the team running it are always motivated and keen for success. The more years I spend at the company, the more I realise it has a real structural issue with the most senior managers. I have begun to realise that the CEO really lacks self-awareness of the negative effect he is having on the company through his incredibly dictatorial style of leadership. I have never worked at a company before where senior leadership are so unable to make a decision without checking with the CEO first. It creates huge inertia in the company where simple sensible ideas are held up waiting for any available time to mention it to the CEO. Worse, what this has created is a situation where the senior leadership seemingly have become accustomed to being unable to approve anything themselves and so tread water as a go between. This then filters down to many of the lower managers too where noone really is willing to do anything without checking everything up the chain. I'm quite sure this will irreprebly damage the company eventually as those middle managers and senior leaders below the CEO have undertandably got very comfortable with the lack of responsability that comes with not making decisions and thus more like advisers than directors. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 0.0 1.0 3.0 2.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 3.0 1490093 Open I spent a long time when I first joined the company at the entry level trying to understand what was causing the lack of motivation to strive and make improvements, in managers, but I realise that it is actually an inability to do so and was shocked to eventually realise it stems from the CEO himself. I'm afraid to say that it appears this is a personality thing, and I don't expect that it will change untill the CEO steps aside. I would love top level managers to raise these concerns with the CEO and take ownership but I understand why they would be comfortable with a well paid, low responsibility position, and probably above all scared of the repercussions of disagreeing with the 'leadership' style. I suspect i will have to leave the company soon before getting into that complacency trap, as I really want to be empowered to contribute and be trusted with responsability, that doesn't seem to exist at any level at Alfa. Many of the managers have been here so long they have lost perspective of how an efficient, well run company, works. These are of course just my opinions but I know I am not alone in thinking this and unfortunately sentiment amoung the most motivated staff is generally toward wanting to leave. I think the CEO actually thinks he is a really strong leader and isn't in anyway intentionally doing this either, he is just completely unaware of his negative impact on those under him and how that is changing the efficiency of the entire company over time. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 9.0 Open Dec 15th, 2023 07:23AM Dec 15th, 2023 07:23AM Alfa Financial Software
