Nice colleges terrible management
|
Nice people to work with. But a terrible management chain and they demand high sales and constant work minimum wage.

Worst company I’ve ever worked for
|
If you want to join a business with a toxic work culture and get exploited for minimum wage then go ahead. Not only just the worst company I’ve worked for, even your friends and family will say you’re mad. Everyone from store manager level upwards makes the rules up as they go along. Upper management and HR think it’s acceptable to expect you to work whilst not getting paid. It’s a low margin industry and the company are squeezing every little thing they can out of the stores, including the chance to win pizza if you reduce your electricity usage in winter when it’s 3 degrees in your shop. They will also try to performance manage you on your specialist sales training, even though it’s not incentivised? My advice, stay well clear

Terrible work place
|
The upper management are some of the worst you will ever work for. It’s take take take, with no care for colleagues welfare at all..!
If you want to enjoy your work, then this certainly isn’t the place for you!
7 years ago I could never see myself leaving. But since the new ceo took over, his abundance of close friends started getting various rolls with in the company, and therefore pushing original workers out..
Don’t even get me started on the training you have to go through just to sell fishing tackle..it’s laughable it really is..!
A once family felt workplace has well and truly been drained from the company..!

Growing too corporate.
|
Keep altering their plans .
Plenty jobs for the boys and box ticking.
Losing customer confidence as the more corporate they get.
They seem all about speed of growth and no tetention of staff or customers.
|
Good colleagues .
|
Lack of training.

Clueless management
|
As much as the company tries to present itself as innovative and forward-thinking, all management tries to do is protect their own position and that of their chums. Their knowledge isn't up to date, and neither do they make any effort to try to keep up with the developments within the wider retail landscape. They don't seem to care at all about the company itself and its future, but are merely there to feed their own egos at the expense of their staff.
Senior management are all friends of the former CEO, which means that there are some odd personal relationships going on between them, and that nothing can be said in confidence.
Teams are often put under a lot of pressure to compensate for what can only be described as sheer mismanagement, whilst the "in-crowd" cuts corners wherever they can and get away with it. Hard work isn't at all rewarded if you're not liked by management. As much as they try to convince you that they like to be "questioned and challenged," the moment you do, you're met with a lot of disdain and arrogance. If you're willing to suck up, you'll succeed in this company, but if not they'll squeeze every last bit out of you and get rid of you the moment they realise that you're there to work, and not feed their egos and let them take credit for hard work you do.

Lovely place to work at
|
I really enjoyed my time at angling direct the staff and management was a amazing always making me laugh and teaching me thing I didn’t previously know. You get to see all new products fresh off the shelf and get to talk to lovely customers and really take the time out there day to talk about fishing.it can be stressful at time but once you get the hang of everything it’s a breeze.it can be a little repetitive at times but it is what it is.you get great discount and flexible work hours the management are really understanding at the Slough branch.I couldn’t recommend a better team :)

Good place to work. Great support from area managers. Fast paced and you learn a lot on the job. Everyone is friendly and you can get on well with just about everyone.

Going down hill
|
As an employer, the company has gone down hill. No longer care about staff, their happiness or wellbeing.
Big "retail" leadership who are now running the business, which has taken away all "family" feel.

Don't do it
|
Do yourself a favour and find employment elsewhere. Sleepy, resistive to change, management like to look after themselves and will frequently pull up the ladder. Really poor wages, far below that of market average for the area. Not bad people on a personal level, but not a company you want to work for.
