Dunelm is a fantastic company that really cares for its colleagues. Nothing is too much to ask, always willing to support and help with anything when needed. The senior management are very caring and the culture on site is fantastic.
|
Only con is after working on site over 2 years not a single person has got a promotion. 1 GM job available in those 3 years which was filled from another site. Another job became vacant and they decided not to fill it.

We are constantly left with no staff due to hour cut backs. Makes it tough to give great customer service, we are constantly getting robbed which again is due to lack of hours to give staff or hire security full time

You are and will always be invisible and replaceable. There’s nothing horrifying about the place but it is a big company with lots of staff and it shows. The lack of engagement and investment in the instore staff at all levels shows, employees in the store I worked in on the whole felt demoralised and uninspired on a daily basis. There are an unnecessary number of team leaders and managers- overall manager, relief manager (weekday) relief manager (weekend) duty manager, another duty manager, bedding team leader, household team leader…. you get my point

Invest in your staff.
‘Staff training’ does not involve a multiple choice test on your phone screen covering umpteen different topics that you can sit over and over again until you pass.
Give your staff Boxing Day and New Year’s Day off. They are expected to work every other bank holiday on normal pay as well as punishing hours on the run up to Christmas.
Actually read the ‘engagement surveys’ you make us fill out every quarter.
