One word: Trauma
Remote working, flexible starting time and ending time, the dev/tester groups were great people
embarrassingly low pay and pay raises that are just as embarrassing, micromanaging, takes sides with managers/higher-ups versus lower end employees, the sick leave is laughable(if your sick for more than 5 days you won't get paid and they guilt trip you about how it affect the business), got rid of anyway for the devs to professionally progress

My experience

The people I work with (from translation team and other teams) are great. The job is varied and allows to learn a lot about instruments, gear and more.
Minimum holidays, which makes traveling home difficult if you are part of the international employees.

Cold hearted horrible company - STAY AWAY
Besides the horrible people, there were some nice people as well and the translation team was lovely. Unfortunately the horrible ones are the ones in charge.
Some of the coldest people I’ve ever had the misfortune to speak to work here, mostly in HR. Gear4music is a cold, impersonal and calculating mass production company that doesn’t give a hoot about its employees, it just cares about money. The minute they need to cut money, they will fire some easy targets without batting an eye and without any empathy or consideration. The utter coldness and unpleasantness of some of these people have in their hearts is shocking. If you’re looking for a place where you’re valued and not just a number, stay away. Don’t touch Gear4music with a ten feet pole.

Fire those that dealt with the translation team redundancy. They all deserve to be. Hire some people with a heart. Maybe treat your employees with some actual kindness and humanity.

Down the drain
Decent colleagues, comfortable office, cafe
Appalling top-down structuring, with upper management treating employees like cannon fodder while they most likely short the company stock, leading to nose-diving pay rates, working standards and redundancies.
Had a line manager lie to my face about a forced demotion from admin to phone team (they will NEVER call that a demotion but it definitely is) despite months of comms explaining my degrading mental health due to working the inbound lines. Resigned the next working day.

Steer Well Clear - its a sinking ship
The company used to be a great place to work, you'll see varying degrees of good and bad comments about them, but the thing that really made the place good were the people actually doing the day to day work
Where to start! The place is going down hill massively, they've laid off people across the board and will actively talk about "cost saving" as a way to justify their treatment and low-ball wages. Their "new way of working" basically involves everyone doing everything now that they've made roles and entire disciplines within the tech team redundant - if you want to be a dev, tester, BA & PM, fill your boots, but I personally wouldn't recommend it. The directors in leadership positions are bullies and cowards - they'll use their seniority to bully their opinion or request through, ask questions or heavily criticise when it's not done right or doesn't meet their imaginary time scales and then disappear when the going gets tough or there are queries they don't want to answer - they hate taking the advice they're paying experts to give them From a HR perspective, AI could do a better job and have more compassion

Don't bother with the hollow standard HR response to make it looks like you care about people and their opinions My advice is look at what you've done and learn from it - you culled half your team, kept the good people on, and now they're leaving in droves too. Learn from this, treat people better, install leaders who can see past their own egos and can actually take advice, and more importantly who can admit when they're wrong. Maybe offer some benefits beyond a fruit basket, free beer and mental health first aiders
