Awful place that has gotten worse over the years
|
I worked here for a fair amount of time and used to enjoy the work/people etc. As time went on management became less helpful and interested which made work not enjoyable at all. They spoke down to staff, swore at staff and generally didn’t care “you know where the door is” was a reoccurring statement made if you dared question them. The pay isn’t great “you won’t get paid any better anywhere else” and having to work weekends isn’t either “no other job will be Monday to Friday either” but only a handful of managers worked the weekends so it’s easy to say when you don’t do it. I left due to all these reasons and managers having favourites who got promoted when they didn’t deserve it, I found a job that is better paid and no weekends funnily enough, just to disprove more of their lies

Everything is bad, the people, the management, the owners etc
They don't follow their own rules. They breach data protection, they lie.
If you are an honest person who takes work seriously then everyone at work will hate you and treat you like trash because you doing a good job (or even the bare minimum) makes them look bad. I have actual PTSD from working there. It is soul destroying. Also whatever they tell you the job description is ia a lie, they will make you do whatever they want you to do end of. I couldn't even enjoy the pay as I barely had time off and had to recover from each work day.
DON'T DO IT, IT'S NOT WORTH IT!

Do not work here. That whole system is corrupt and they do not care about you in the slightest.

These people are just plain awful.
They pontificate about wellbeing but will throw you under the bus if they think it will improve their bottom line at the next shareholder meeting
The rank and file people you work along side are all a fantastic group of people, kind, supporting, understanding and willing to go the extra mile to help each other out, but once you've risen above the level of line manger you enter the twilight zone of toxic uncaring backstabbing idiots running around like a bunch of headless chickens with no plan, no vision, no direction and no idea what to do to keep the business from crashing other than laying everyone off in the hopes of fooling the shareholders that they're improving efficiency.
Avoid like the plague if you value your self-worth or mental health.

Great team, poor management
|
very friendly team but changes managers alot and alot of them seemed clueless and was not very understanding about my hospital appointments and the pay was poor

Don't work there as a cleaner. The way you get treated is shocking. Workplace is depressing. Managers are clueless, less cameras in a prison..one rule for you another rule for others.... bully and dont listen 100% do not recommend!

It doesn’t take long for new starts to realise that the company makes pretty bad executive decisions and doesn’t value its employees as much as it claims to. Upper management never seem to take accountability for their mistakes and, instead, everyone else is left to deal with the back log of work those mistakes generate. But on a positive note, you’ll likely make some great friends and benefit from decent office facilities.
In my department the social scene is great but it’s mainly everyone bonding over their collective dissatisfaction with everything the company does. Monthly socials are decent and people are usually game for a night at the local pub even more frequently than that. With the atrocious turnover rate though there soon won’t be anyone left to socialise with…
The on-site facilities in the Holgate offices are decent and well maintained. The canteen has pretty good meal selections and a great breakfast!
When I started, I had high hopes for things like career progression but this seems to take ages if it even happens at all.
Pay differences cause tensions and are usually a hot topic. Seems to be the consensus that everyone is paid differently even if they’re doing the same job.
Think that just about covers it.

The main benefit of this place are the people who you work alongside. Other than that you get a real sense that the higher ups in the management genuinely don’t care about you nor do they really care about the work we do other then how it affects their bottom line.

The people who work at Gear4music are great and make you feel very welcome when starting. Not had any problems since starting and unlikely to encounter any in the future.
Everyone is socially active which helps inter-departmental cohesion.
