The manager was not too sure of what they were doing and made horrible experimental plans. When things didn't work they blamed the lab techs. Also I directly reported to some with a BA that was just out of college. They did not know what they were doing. Just an odd work environment. When first starting with this company I walked in with very high expectations. ABS has some of the top genetics in the world. The hours are good you work 6:00 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. most days it's all go and you don't have time to eat your lunch at least that's how it was for me. I was always willing to pick up extra hours which included doing things such as unloading bulls, unloading hay, mowing lawn, spraying weeds, or hauling animals to the university of Madison veterinary school. Each day I went above and beyond to provide care for the young bulls at ABS which included feeding, cleaning huts/pens, and catching calves that were sick and communicating with the veterinarian staff to treat each animal. Unfortunately I was terminated. Fixed hours, little to no flexibility in hours. 3 shifts, 1st shift hours- 6am to 2:30pm, 2nd shift- 2pm to 10:30pm, 3rd shift- 10pm to 6:30am. The R&D side of ABS (IntelliGen Technologies), is rapidly growing and changing, so it's a very exciting time to be a part of something or join the company. I would highly recommend if you are up for a challenge and a positive work life experience! Since the company is so new, many of the supporting departments/administration/operations tend to wear many hats and are constantly trying to keep up. No one does right, it was so stressful working and breaking your back for the company, and the company not even knowing who you are! I worked at CRD making cows and my production was always above average, I currently still have every production analysis I was given to prove my statement, and was "fired" because of production...I believe that's what the manager said, I still don't know if that's the reason, because I don't speak Portuguese, I'm clueless what was relaid to me. The management that got put in place to run CRD project literally has 0 communication with the small number of employees (7) currently working. ABS for some reason hired out of state veterinarians from Brazil to manage and run that project, with no English background or any kind of communication what so ever, so you have no clue what is going on once you're there, and that will eventually catch up if it hasn't already, so much money and time is being thrown away because of this situation. I really don't even think ABS knows this, who knows. So much potential and success could be happening with the right people in place, and not the current situation. This job always had me on the feet and couldn't miss a detail.
