Lol It's a job It pays If you have a well run site with an engaged team it's a fantastic job. Decent training pathways from sales through ops. Some really excellent colleagues Managing sites, without support from them it would sometimes be impossible. Have to fight for bonus and onus on you prove you met targets. (Target related systems may also be conveniently changed at deadlines so you can't access data for proof). No systems are intergrated and recent "updates" to tech actually increase workload. An order and pay system that has to be re rung manually through the till or can't remember what you sell as it's not linked to the sales system. Budgets are never right so impossible to beat as they are out of touch with operations and the world we live in at head office. When footfall is down across the industry how can you keep expecting growth? ER/ HR just a damage limitation arm of the company. When you send a grievance and get a professional "there, there, things may get better" as a response. Success measured only in terms of beating records. Turning around a struggling site from loss to profit earns you nothing but beat your budgets by a fiver and they'll roll out the red carpet. Not a good employer as the buck stops with you the "Manager". It feels like your left alone without support st the toughest of times. You put all the hardwork and extra in just for a salary. They reap the benefits of your hardwork. Business model needs to change not the culture. You really need to sort out your IT especially if you stick with the line you're treading replacing servers with order and pay. No such thing as cheap eats anymore your offering of processed pre cooked food can no longer be sold cheaply. You may need to reform back to actual kitchens and upskill your teams instead of reheating cook lines. Back to a Billion is the wrong focus people are at the Heart of your business not spread sheets, surveys and statistics to beat people with. Happiness, standards and quality is where the focus should be not low accountability vs high accountability blah blah. Don't think any success will be celebrated other than beating previous years' figures or profits. You could drag a pub back from the depths, work 90 hrs a week to get your site back to where it should be, but don't expect a bonus or thank you unless you surpass the best figures your site has ever produced. Greedy company, very poor bonus structure, expected to "work as required" regardless of the state of teams you inherit. Don't expect help from colleagues as they struggle to keep teams together or just won't help. Don't expect your employer to help either as it's "your" business without you taking the profit. Too much pressure..... You're not really an employee as the employer shirks thier responsibilities. Think self employed without your hardwork paying anything other than a salary. You'll have to fight for bonuses or prove you achieved it yourself don't automatically expect it paid.
