Rampant sexism in engineering

They had some lovely milkshakes! The cards team (designers who created the cards themselves) seemed nice and had it together, with a decent number of women there.
|
When I worked at Moonpig I had to listen to the most disgusting, sexist conversation. A group of male engineers joking about having sex with their wives before, during and after birth. It was abhorrent back then and the memory bothers me even now. Moonpig was an awful place to work: Management was terrible; Coworkers both complained about each other and about their boss; No introduction or help for new starters (an intriguing expectation for new analysts to simply intuit all systems and data within them without introductions); Badly explained work and a lot of men with zero ability for empathy or tolerance of any solution that wasn't exactly what they themselves would have created.

I've worked at Moonpig for over 10 years. The business has evolved in my time here and it looks very different from when I first started, it was smaller with approximately 70 of us in the office. Since then we've grown in our hundreds, but the unique Moonpig culture that has people at the centre of it has never changed. The community and connection amongst colleagues is wonderful and I've had the pleasure of meeting and working with some amazing individuals at Moonpig. Moonpig is a people centric company and embraces flexible working for it's staff, which is a huge benefit to any working parent.

- Panama shift pattern means lots of time off
- Department assignment is subject to change based on success and personal choice
- Friendly staff

- Poor communication and management means booking holidays is hit or miss
- There is rampant and obvious favouring and occasionally bullying from management
- Serious overcrowding issues at peak times due to the number of (completely unvetted) agency.
- Banked hours are incredibly poorly managed leading to a regular loss of income or increase in monthly hours.
