lon:otb https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=864816 Mar 4th, 2024 12:00AM Open Open On the Beach Travel/Sales Agent Manchester, England Low salary, moved every day to other departments, no educational trips discount for your own holidays Low salary and rarely reviewed - always asked to move departments and do other jobs and commission not compensated for. No thanks given. Systems never working and unable to perform job to the best ability (website has incorrect and out of date information) Horrible working hours No educational trips for the sales team- places given to new starters and departments which do not need the travel knowledge. Unsupportive HR and management Only care about numbers and not their loyal staff now that Simon Cooper has stepped down, whole company has changed, used to actually care about their staff. New contact centre management are running this company into the ground and cannot handle the work load as they cannot keep staff. They do not care when loyal staff (been there from the start, worked throughout covid, Monarch, Thomas Cook collapse etc ) leave. They would rather replace. No incentive to stay or asked how they can make it better. All about numbers now for OTB so I wouldn’t bother even applying here! -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 0.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 3.0 3.0 1.0 5.0 864816 Open Listen to staff? 0.0 [] PART_TIME No No 20.0 Open Mar 7th, 2024 05:17AM Mar 7th, 2024 05:17AM On the Beach

lon:otb https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=864816 Dec 7th, 2023 12:00AM Open Open On the Beach Web Insight Analyst Vague expectations, Unnecessary pressure - Salaries aren't as low as many companies do in the UK generally - The office is pretty cool with a lot of facilities, etc. - Atleast they let me speak and say what I wanted to before they fired me lol, some companies don't even let you do that! - I've worked at OTB for a total of 49 working days (after excluding 1 bank holiday). 8 days were spent travelling to Manchester (from Glasgow), these days were all about meetings etc and too on my own expenses. In my honest opinion, nothing in these days happened that could've not been done completely remotely. Anyways, this leaves us with 41 days, 2 weeks in the beginning were about meeting new people and really just getting started - I met 27 people. So they judged me on just 31 days' performance and all of this when I never missed any meeting I was told to attend, never been unresponsive on Slack / emails, and not late to work or taken any leaves... They have a meeting with me about my "performance" one week on Wednesday, we shake hands on things I will do to make improvements and 2 days later on Friday they send probation review meeting (surprise, surprise!) and by Monday they told me they can't continue with me because I am not meeting their expectations (Yeap, never mentioned what were those expectations). - What's completely surprising was how nice, welcoming, and warm they were in the first few weeks. Telling me to take my time, they will train me on everything.. And in the last 2 weeks the attitude of the person who was training me and the manager completely changed! First you say don't worry, we are here to help you and support you, few weeks later you have issue with performances.. Well, what is it?! You want to support me or just want performance? It also doesn't help when they keep saying, people here don't mean what they say.. So if they (other teams, managers etc.) are saying everything is okay, it means it isn't. I for one, cannot deal with such unnecessary drama and guessing games. We are all adults, lay it out as it is! If not, as a manager / my team, you guys should have my back - which wasn't the case. - There's also a culture of sucking up to your bosses or well giving way too much importance to exec team, as if they are Gods - I don't know if the Execs even want that but these guys are def giving them, everybody needs to score brownie points ey! Again, def not my style. And for this my own team put me under pressure. Like I am new, cut me some slack or don't send me to meetings if you think I am not prepared yet, right? - Lastly as with most organisations, it comes down to your team and manager. If you're getting into Data Analytics team, hope you have a better luck than I did (by then maybe it's a different team as they change things quite a lot there). - Funny part is while they mention a lot about performance, it's 20th day today and I am the one chasing their people to get their laptop back to them - it's because other teams maybe don't put too much pressure and really hope they don't fire someone on this delay. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 0.0 1.0 3.0 1.0 4.0 4.0 1.0 3.0 864816 Open - Read above scenario and you'll know what to do eventho nothing will change as we know these replies by companies are just empty promises. - When you hire people on probation, give them proper training, support, and time. Do NOT put a lot of pressure in early days and at least let the probation period end or come close before you just fire! - Managers shouldn't have such absolute autonomy to simply fire someone. There should be support protocols in place, more support provided, etc if you have hired someone after several interviews, test tasks, presentations etc. Such a waste of time and resources of everyone tbh! - In the end, it's just a travel business. You're not saving lives or anything, so at least have that relaxed and fun environment for your employees too, please! 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 1.0 Open Dec 15th, 2023 07:47AM Dec 15th, 2023 07:47AM On the Beach
