What is the best part of working at the company? Very dependant upon your Manager / Head of Department; used to be a rewarding place to work with some lovely colleagues, but redundancies & poor management created a stressful environment. The Save As You Earn share scheme was a good perk. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Misogynistic manager who micro-managed and was unable to change his ways despite HR & Occupational Health intervention. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Healthy values promoted by Group HR, but not neccessarily modelled by Division or individual line manager. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Flexible working (2 days WFH), but little real teamwork. Onerous completing of minutes & spreadsheets, in addition to updating company systems. I always felt like just a number on their sheet and I found they dont believe you if you need time off for sickness or life problems and it can be long hours which isnt too bad when they give u two breaks throughout the day to be fair. I just feel redrow could benefit a lot more and do a lot better if the management was better in areas it just felt inconsistent from one site to the next to do with standards of work and snags. Like one site you will have to protect everything the floor if it’s been done the stairs need to be protected etc but most of the time people just rip them away and just get it dirty anyway and then the next site you go on they make u protect the floor even though there’s no flooring down it just felt backwards at time. And you get some managers who just stand on their phone and when it is busy and there is houses to clean or what not they are just stood there stressing when all they need to do is pick up a brush and sweep for 10 minutes seems alot of agents and managers are cannot do that. But on the other hand I have seen mangers and agents with a clear knowledge for skills and had a good work ethic and they would do jobs like sweep houses and do other jobs which is right as a leader and manager you should lead by example. redrow has a brilliant app to check your calendar book days off you can buy and sell holidays which is good and it keeps you well informed on what’s happening with the business and the market with information on there. I also found anyone who worked within HR were extremely helpful and let you know whatever you needed to know . Conflicting management. The whole place seems to be run on ‘If your face fits’ scheme. Always having to remind the managers to fill in time sheets! Being told NOT to do something, then in another breath, being told to do it! All by the same member of ‘so called management’ I work hard on site. That much I am confident about, but never ever felt like it was appreciated!
