I have a lot of freedom to do what I like and not very much is expected. The company gave all graduates a blanket 5% pay rise this year which was great, especially as everyone else had a pay freeze. This shows graduates are really valued highly, even more than long serving employees which is how it should be because graduates are worth more. It wasn't even linked to performance or achieving and targets which is great, generally you can just do as much or as little as you want and nobody says anything. Not a good place to stay long term but it seems like a good place for graduates looking for an easy in. Pay rise. Nice location. Low expectations. Poor organisation. Old fashioned management. I would recommend this company to any good engineer within commuting distance. Profits come before people every time, and share holders will always be put before employees. Huge pay gap/company benefits gap between directors and employees. Poor pay for the rest of us in return for very hard work. Its one of those companies where it is tollerated that some people sit and do nothing all day while others do all the work. Those doing all the work do not receive any better pay, recognition or opportunities. Directors keep the majority of money for themselves. Very little chance for career progression, management mostly out for themselves. Poor job security as axing heads is a fast way to make the accounts look better for shareholders. Those left behind are just expected to cover the work with less resources. Employees are treated as disposable and not at all valued by the company. There was a very difficult working environment at Renishaw if you were not an engineer. I was told I would get my education paid for but when it came to it they refused, despite others being offered their education paid for. I was told to focus my efforts on a specific group in the work place in order to achieve supervisor level. I took on everything I could, even attending HR reviews but when I asked management if I was on track for supervisory I was told no due to my current experience and age. There was a bad ethos and I did not enjoy working there at all. There is no flexibility with working or any option of remote working. They do not have issue with people sitting there with nothing to do as they purely care if people are in seats rather than people providing a worthwhile contribution. I highly recommend that you stay away if you are not an engineer or want to progress in your career as that will not be possible. I had spoken to many people whilst working there and promotions seem to be very few and far between. It was a relaxed place of work with excellent facilities.
