Early finish for office staff on Fridays. The product is great. | Removed my last review so I could go into more detail. Being a small company of less than 50 employees I started with the company with a very positive attitude. The job was sold to me as somewhere I could grow and progress up as the company expanded. The company is growing. There are various OEM orders for production parts and further prototypes are coming in. Many long serving (as long serving as you can be in a company with as high staff turnover as ST has) staff expected there might be a bit of a thank you for the hard work. Considering cost of living pay rises have been off the table for years, this wasn't an unreasonable assumption, unless you are the CEO/CFO. This was a bit of a kick in the teeth given the pay rises the CEO has had over the years, not to mention the shares and share options he's recieved. The promise of progressing up has also turned out to be fictional too. What they actually mean is when an opening comes up that a hard working staff member deserves, they probably won't even interview them for it and hire externally someone who doesn't really seem suited. Finally, there's a huge frustration among staff surrounding the reluctance of the company to do things 'properly'. Why solve an issue robustly with some investment, when you can put a cheap temporary fix in place and spend more on the long run? If a promise of progressing or pay rises is made, it's likely meaningless unless in writing. Beware of any claims made in an interview. I'd advise caution before accepting a job here. Since Jan 2019 9 people have left and there are 2 more leaving soon after handing in their notice. Ultimately, it doesn't matter how good the product is if you can't keep staff in the company to deliver it. | -1.0 | NEGATIVE | -1.0 | NEGATIVE | -1.0 | DISAPPROVE | 0.0 | 1.0 | 3.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 | 0.0 | 26949 | Open | The review I took down so I could replace it with this one caused a bit of a stir. It doesn't matter who puts up this review, or any other, most staff agree. It also shouldn't be a surprise given this has been many peoples opinion for months, if not longer. I'd advise doing something, such as properly valuing staff with pay rises, but also listening to their concerns, to avoid any more people leaving. | 0.0 | [] | REGULAR | No | No | 1.0 | Oct 15th, 2019 02:13PM | Jul 1st, 2021 11:22AM | Surface Transforms | ||||||||

My co-workers are fantastic. | Sold as a job with an opportunity to grow, found that the complete opposite is true. A layer of middle management has recently been put in place from outside the company, taking all the positions that most staff expected to go to the hardworking and dedicated existing members of staff in the company. This has completely disenfranchised most staff, if they weren't already before, given that staff have been told there will yet again be no cost of living pay rise, yet over the last few years the CEO has recieved a pay rises in the tens of thousands (not to mention shares and share options). I may sound like a disgruntled former/current employee, but don't take my word for it, consider the people who have left. Since the start of 2019, the company had lost 8 employees (possibly more that I may have missed). I'm unsure of the exact number of employees at this time, but is is definitely not more than 50, so this is around 15% staff turnover in as little as 9 months. Some talk has occurred between staff of starting a union, but I don't think most plan on staying round long enough for it to be worth it. | -1.0 | NEGATIVE | 0.0 | NEUTRAL | -1.0 | DISAPPROVE | 0.0 | 1.0 | 3.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 | 1.0 | 26949 | Open | What's the point?
