Decent compensation, poor leadership

The compensation here is decent, however poor upper management and HR are the downfall of working here. There is a very blatant shift bias towards days, however both overnight shifts are held to higher standards by management. HR does not handle situations professionally.

Great place to learn, maybe not ideal long term
|
Overall the experience is what you would expect- high paced, tight deadline environment with some transient periods of peace in between. There are certainly some more than others that carry most of the burden in the lab, and communication among management seems to be a dumpster fire most other days but life at akorn is manageable, compared to competitors nearby. Great place to learn in the pharmaceutical setting and people are helpful. QC work long term is not appealing to most, and you will have to learn when to pack up and move on when the time comes.

There are no growth opportunities in the organization even as a top performer. Leadership will give you a high review and a pat on the back, but no additional incentives (merit increases, bonuses, promotions). The company and leaders have a very old school mentality and are not looking for change.

Since working at Akorn I have received two significant promotions. My management is appreciative of hard work and rewards as such. I work with a good team with respect for each other. Everyone offers a helping hand. The hardest part of the job is dealing with patients experiencing health issues. The most enjoyable part of my job is my coworkers.

Disorganized - Mismanaged Company - No chance for advance

I have worked for this company 8 years. The culture hit the bottom. At the beginning there was a purpose. The management mismanaged/destroyed good company. With a focus to cash out, they lost objectives and destroyed the company and the culture at Akorn. No chance for promotion, no training. Management all levels - terrible - weak - no ambition to achieve, only to protect their position. No plan - no execution. Very confusing environment. I have met good people there but they have moved to out .

Great managers
|
I came into the company less than a year before Covid, things got sort of wacky quickly. However, my managers were some of best I've ever worked with. The work/life balance was ideal and the pay was great for the work load.
