At the end of each quarter you can work the weekends and get double pay if you work on Sundays. The training in the quality department is not very organized - you have to really take initiative to learn everything. I left the company shortly after a re-organization of the quality department - so my review is based on before that reorganization. There is a mix of very long time empolyees - who wish that things were more like it was when the company was family owned, and newer employees - with more contemporary ideas that meet with some difficulty in being integrated. The pay is not so great, at least for when I was there. I was there for a year and a half, and never received a raise, not even a cost of living one - and that included 2 very positive performance reviews. I'm being paid 25% more now, for the same work - however, this is post COVID. When you show up for your first day you are giving NOTHING and have to build up your tools and equipment as you go. Tools are acquired being gifted or “found” and you can’t buy your own. Test equipment is extremely outdated. A group of ten techs share 1-2 test boxes or cables one that doesn’t work and one that works sometimes. Technology is either stolen and rebranded, outdated, or both. Upper “management” and Human Resources think things run one way while it’s really being ran completely opposite. No one wants to speak up but everyone wants to complain and the few personnel that did speak up were made out to look bad. Management demands a certain level of professionalism but do not hold up to their own requirements. The ones that work hard get the same raises as the ones that don’t do anything. When they promise you overtime in the interview make sure you are aware it’s case by case. It can go from mandatory to none at all over night so don’t count on it. The ones that work the hardest are the ones that are given more tasks because they know you will do it. Management are split into two “cliques” and you will have to play the same games as you go. They will use empty promises to keep you quiet and working but they never happen. They do not care about employee retainment as I was told by HR themselves. They will hire when busy and lay off when not and done so frequently. This is a resume builder job at best. If you are not a chosen one then you are just a body in a chair. This company wants to be an employee caring business but it’s all for show. You can be paid a lot more doing a lot better work somewhere else. Lacks depth in understanding customer support. Lacks formal tools to perform remedial tasks. The culture is antiquated and willingness to change is lacking. Inadequate staffing US. No financials available for service management (P&L). Inadequate staffing internationally. Products are not state of the art and lack serviceability. Use of reseller chain is inadequately trained and supported. Web site is poorly designed for customer support. This is a publicly held company that's run like a proprietorship. Nepotism is practiced. The founder didn't believe in patents, so information is tightly controlled. Possession of flash drives is forbidden. Need must be demonstrated for internet access. The information system? Well, you'll see... I agree that you can be set up to fail. They will hire you then require you to sign releases after starting. You can be laid off as a failure for not learning the products fast enough - despite "locked down" info sources! This is the strangest company I've ever worked for. It felt like a blend of paranoia and persecution. There are insiders and outsiders. Some well established insiders seem to have a siege mentality. After my layoff I saw my exact same position advertised three times over the following year. It's a pattern - or maybe a policy. If you're desperate for even a short-term job it's OK.
