Good Company, Bad HR

Everybody is really passionate about doing a good job, and do some really cool science. New manufacturing and office/research building opening next year so it should be exciting with new facilities. On-site President expects a lot and drives everyone pretty hard, but overall it's a good place to work.
Parent company is pushing hard on outreach and community volunteering programs, which is exciting to see we are making a difference outside of just our research.

It's a "work hard" place--work/life balance can be tough and staffing is lean. I think there is a plan to grow the number of staff which may help, but it does feel like everybody is in it together to work hard.
The worst part of Alexza is by far Human Resources. The HR function is *terrible* and cannot be trusted. If you come to work here do not count on HR to be your advocate or even keep your legitimate concerns confidential. It is not a place where you can seek help or support.

I would love to give Alexza 5 stars because the vast majority of my experience has been good, but the HR is so awful that I cannot give anything more than 1 so as to warn people that might want to work here.
