Horrible management, most people in management positions got there because they've worked here for 20+ years so they get shuffled around into higher positions in other departments and have no clue what they're doing and no desire to learn what their department does. There are some good people here but the bad far outweighs the good.

Stop moving employees into management positions just because they've been with the company for many years. Make the manager/supervisors more accountable for their actions, and require them to know how to do the day to day functions of their department, just like the employees they supervise.

Modernizing the company and reducing the number of managers to the top would cut out the "fat" for business processes to improve and function better. I recommend reading "Brave New Work" by Aaron Dignan. Many of the ideas in the book if implemented would greatly improve things!

There is sometimes cake in the break room.
|
Upper management was set in their ways and uninterested in making any positive changes such as increasing salaries and promoting personnel. Instead of correcting issues and deficiencies within the department, they would come up with "new/hip" ways to distract the employees from the grotesquely large workloads and laughably low pay. These distractions included competitions to see who could write the most business...awesome right?! Yes, when you are receiving commission or a bonus or something...instead of a certificate of achievement. While this can be a great team building experience it is tiresome to participate for no real gain week in and week out. All in all, pay is low, workload is high, and management has industry experience but zero management skills.
