People where nice, very little office drama There where some absolutely horrible senior techs that I had to interact with has an engineer. This specific one wouldn’t come into work sometimes, was late most of the time, left most of the work load to the more Junior Tecs. With more experience then anyone else, he had no input on how to improve work flow or product out put but continually complained about his inept junior techs. When I walked around he was always on his phone or in his office on his phone. Most repairs where left to lower level techs which lead to more down time of the machine because of long or incorrect repairs. The junior techs where competent and motivated which makes these lazy senior tech more complacent. The senior techs where not training them or even guiding them In there daily tasks. Talking to some of the junior tech showed me that they where mostly self taught. After working here for a few years, I realized that these senior techs where rehired from when the company down sized in the past. It seemed obvious that they where here to do minimal work and ride out their cushy position until the next downsizing. This was common amongst multiple manufacturing departments and I believe resulted in the eventual downsizing of the complain do to manufacturing inadequacies. TCO and CIGS had the largest issues in regards to this but it was without a doubt, company wide. This company is repeating it's past mistakes, heading down the same path to failure but at a faster pace. Best outcome would be if some other solar company bought them. Another year, another mass layoff. New CEO (Sept 2022) with fantastical, unachievable goals. Stock back in the toilet, trading again at 40 cents. Didn't notice any office drama. Interesting product provides some motivation. Frequent company meals (Lunches). No overtime Semi- flexible hours Position offered did not align with tasks assigned. I was told my role would be modifying code, and adjusting equipment recipes (instructions). The only task I was given was reassembling a machine that had been aggressively disassembled (wires were cut rather unattached). Communication is severely lacking. I worked here for months, and despite routinely asking for goals to be communicated I was written up for under producing. Chain of command is not clear. Starting from new employee orientation. The first day I actually spoke to my "manager" was the day I quit. Company structure, direction, goals, and time lines were never communicated. I was sent a lot of generic emails and slide shows, but little direction. Better define your roles. I was employed as an engineer, but most of the work I performed was that of an electrician. I was given a wiring diagram (in Japanese) and told to wire a machine which had previously operated and since been fully dissected. Offer more money and hire people with more experience. The salary I received was consistent with that of a junior employee.
