I think many people who have gone through an interview process or two have heard that a company's culture is great only to be duped once they join. That is not the case at Avantax. The company culture truly is stellar.
One of my favorite parts about our culture is the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council. They do a fantastic job at creating a community of belonging, highlighting important celebrations, and educating employees without perpetuating divisiveness.
The people here are unlike any other colleagues I've had anywhere else. Everyone is kind, supportive, and positive. There is a lot of care that goes into making sure employees feel valued across the board.
Despite the uncertainty with our recent acquisition, leadership has been very transparent and it's obvious they are working behind the scenes to get us as much information as they can, as it becomes available.

Each time around year-end reviews are when another big change occurs, putting a pause on opportunities for career progression.
The recent restructuring has caused uncertainty about future roles and responsibilities. We are currently setting goals for the year and it feels like an impossible task considering there's no clear direction.

- You are able to work from home for now. Not sure if that will be allowed anymore since the Cetera merger.
- During slow season there is barely anything to do which allow time to work on side hustles/hobbies..etc.
- Used to have unlimited time off though most employees only took
1-2 weeks per year for fear of management disapproval.
- Good Dental, Vision, and Health insurance currently but that will likely change with acquisition

- Salary is lower than industry standard.
- 401k match is lower than industry standard
- Communication with business development needs a lot of improvement. No offices will transitions for weeks then they will try and push 3-5 offices through at once causing a mass influx of work and allowing for zero work/life balance for the next 2 months or so.
- no more stock options since acquisition
- no more incentives, used to offer employees a lottery for a suite at the AAC in Dallas to watch Mavs/Stars games
- Overtime hours expected but not compensated for

Work more closely with business development to ensure a steady flow of transitions throughout the year. Don't try to make up for poor performance all year in the last quarter. Allow business development sales reps more flexibility to actually close deals when firms are ready. Give acquired firms a better layout of the transition process and set proper expectations for how the transition will proceed. Provide more incentives for hard work.
