nasdaq:bl https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=389699 Apr 13th, 2024 12:00AM Open Open BlackLine Sr. Manager, Operations Uninspired Co-CEO's follow up their words with actions. Solid equity plan. Entirely too many layers of redundant Management. High level leadership - especially in the Product Org - needs significant housecleaning. All existing issues trace back to ineffective leadership under the Co-CEO's. Culture change starts with the CEO's and must be carried down through the orgs effectively. Absolutely ZERO integration of acquisitions at all. No clue what those business do, how effective they are, or what their products are capable of. Listening to existing Product leaders is like looking for roadsigns in a thick fog - there might be signs, and if there are they might look like what they say, ...or they don't, Competing contradictory goals across collaborative teams makes customer service and KPI adherence exceedingly difficult. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE 1.0 APPROVE 1.0 2.0 4.0 2.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 2.0 389699 Open When speaking with senior leaders, the CEO's need to demand "proof" of what they're saying. Right now they're receiving nothing more than a smoke show of false information. 0.0 [] REGULAR No No 4.0 Open Apr 17th, 2024 02:32PM Apr 17th, 2024 02:32PM Blackline Financial Services
nasdaq:bl https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=389699 Apr 5th, 2024 12:00AM Open Open BlackLine Marketing Woodland Hills, CA Poor Management Some great people who care about their teammates and can and want to contribute to work they can be proud of. Marketing leadership are subpar at best. Many don’t get simple marketing concepts, still think they know best, and don’t accept input from colleagues. Some can’t make a decision or take a stance to save their lives. Every decision needs to involve a committee, it’s no wonder things take so long to get done. Others take credit for work that isn’t their own. Still others don’t know what their teams do. It’s a culture that has valued and promoted the loudest people in the room to the highest levels. Those lower down in the ranks or in undervalued groups are overworked and/or underutilized and are held to different standards of performance. -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 0.0 2.0 4.0 3.0 2.0 3.0 1.0 4.0 389699 Open There’s no question that growing attrition is due to a lack of trust in the competence of management and growth opportunities, and changes within the larger organization. Unless someone steps in to keep marketing leaders in check, more capable people will depart. Those who remain will be doing busywork that doesn’t make a meaningful impact because decisions are being made in a vacuum. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 4.0 Open Apr 7th, 2024 03:17PM Apr 7th, 2024 03:17PM Blackline Financial Services

nasdaq:bl https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=389699 Apr 3rd, 2024 12:00AM Open Open BlackLine Implementation Consultant Los Angeles, CA Could be a good stepping stone but recommend you keep looking Fully remote, flexible schedule, relative level of autonomy, decent pay, some of the best peer employees I've ever worked with Very little career path definition, good management and leadership SEVERELY lacking, employees have no voice or say in decisions/changes and are actively shutdown when they speak up or pose questions, departments are heavily siloed and communication is near non-existent, company and process changes are frequent and half-baked (rolled out and enforced prior to training or structure fully fleshed out). I loved this company when I started over 3 years ago, it was a big game-changer from where I was previously working, so I'll always be grateful for my time here. Having said that, there's a lot of issues within this company structure and culture that are causing the best of us to leave. My team got a new manager (internally promoted) just over a year ago and since then we've had three of our best employees leave the company specifically because of issues with this person and their management style. Managers have vastly different styles and this one is particularly harsh and micromanaging. (Peers have said they don't feel they're treated as adults. I know upper management is aware of these issues because there have been complaints raised since the person became a manager, and they've actively solicited feedback from some of us regarding their management and our satisfaction, but nothing has been done about it. I've heard other complaints from other teams regarding their managers as well, mainly regarding the lack of growth opportunities, career paths, and feedback; that is a company-wide trend. In the years I've been here, they have tried rolling out various programs, leadership trainings, and so on, but nothing has been continued or enforced. Raises are minimal or non-existent. (Another employee informed me this year they did not receive any raise because they were told they were supposedly already at the cap for their role and supposedly did not have the experience to move to a senior role, despite them having the same qualifications, experience, and taking on the same projects as all other seniors of that role. Promotions and raises are only given once a year. They said they felt incredibly crushed and not valued.) It's not about the money, it's about feeling like the company values its employees and everything we do for them. -1.0 NEGATIVE 0.0 NEUTRAL 0.0 NO_OPINION 3.0 1.0 4.0 4.0 1.0 3.0 2.0 4.0 389699 Open Listen to your employees and don't dismiss or become defensive when we raise concerns or questions. Myself and others who have been with BlackLine for some years now all feel like there's no point in trying to speak up about things because it doesn't matter or we'll be actively shutdown without any consideration. Do actual reviews of your managers and take some actions if their teams are complaining. Managers shouldn't just be laying down laws, employees deserve supportive leadership. (And for goodness sake, if someone truly is at their wage cap, TELL THEM AHEAD OF TIME and guide them on HOW they can advance BEFORE it comes time for their review.) 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 4.0 Open Apr 7th, 2024 03:17PM Apr 7th, 2024 03:17PM Blackline Financial Services
