Good for some roles; COO has major trust issues

Good for entry-mid career levels, commercial lenders and others who fit BWBs midwestern passive aggressive culture; good pay; great office space; nice swag; fun team events; positive people.
|
Experienced professionals beware. The COO at BWB is a micromanager who does not trust the ideas/expertise of anyone other than the immediate leadership team or people who have worked there at least 4 years…. If you can put up with that for several years, maybe you’ll be in the clear. There is a lack of autonomy and ability to move quickly to make change. The CEO is absent and when he is there, is extremely conflict avoidant. This filters down into the culture ensuring the culture is “nice” but not too progressive or innovative when compared with other companies. Overall, the SLT is pretty “junior varsity” as it pertains to inspiring high performance and innovation. BWB wins “Best Place to Work” awards because they primarily hire people who are “just like” them and those employees (who are also comfortable working with people just like themselves) answer the survey items accordingly. BWB talks a good game around DEI, but there is a lack of BIPOC representation above the mid-level. Diversity of ideas at the strategic level is not welcomed - only at entry levels, and even then, be cautious.
