I was a tester here and it was a fun and rewarding job. Got free lunch from time to time but pay was not great. Eventually they outsourced testing and gave us all the boot but with a decent severance package.

Fun place where you can think out of the box
|
No day is typical when you work with video games. Going to work was like going to summer camp. Everyone treated each other like family and we made new associates feel welcome on day one. Upper management took the time to work with us one on one while offering cross training in different areas. Work, yes but when you like what you do and working with people that have the same principals and work ethics as you, it doesn't feel like work.

A typical day of testing is sitting and repetitively going through games. You learn to do busy work but I learned to get things done in a timely manner. Management did not know anything and were very disorganized. Co-workers were the best part. They were good people and I made friends easily. The hardest part of the job is when they randomly said overtime was needed and kept us until 4am. There would usually be no warning.

Majesco is a great place to work if you are starting out in the job market.

Majesco is a small Video Game publisher that makes casual family friendly games. The company has a very laid back atmosphere and productivity can vary. In general the people are fun to work with, but can sometimes come off as being sarcastic. The company pays descent, but if you work hourly expect to work massive amounts of overtime including weekends and occasional over nights. You are well compensated for the overtime, but if you have a family it can be stressful. The are some cons to the company. This is video game company so the live and die on hit titles. As a publisher they are a little more stable than developers in terms of job security. The management is friendly but the higher it goes up the more clueless they are about their own product. They don't understand what real gamers want save for a few select individuals, and instead try to go for a casual audience.The company has a string of poor business deals and they pass up on truly amazing titles and instead go with fad titles. They are always behind the curves on the these fads and the management will always try to put the minimum amount of money into a title to try to strike gold. It is a business at the end of the so you can't blame them. They are however not Activision Blizzard, EA or 2K. They are tiny. Overall it be a could better company but not bad.

Definitely a great place to work. Free lunches on the weekends, Arcade in the lunchroom.

Typical day consisted of testing gaming software and reporting any bugs and issues in a bug tracking database. Working closely with the development team to insure a bug free product.
I've learned the basics of Quality Assurance and would actually like to pursue a career in it.
Management could have been better. Not enough management experience.
The co-workers were very loyal and were always willing to lend a hand if you needed it.
The hardest part of the job was reaching deadlines and working sometimes 24 straight hours just to make sure the product was ready for shipping.
The most enjoyable part of the job was being sent out to different locations to work, for ex. Oregon.

I enjoyed my time there. Sadly the company is having trouble modernizing. Other than that the company itself was very friendly and a great environment. I will miss my colleagues and hope the company keeps on trucking and eventually grows into someplace huge!
