Red Flag - The person on the other end of my phone interview gave completely inaccurate info about what the job entailed compared to the second video interview. During the interview process, they sold me on the work/life balance and all sorts of other promises, none of which actually existed. Red Flag - After receiving my offer letter, I attempted to negotiate a salary increase. I later got a call from my future boss (a fake military tough guy type) ripping into me for having the "audacity and selfishness" to negotiate a pay bump, along with insulting my career achievements up to that point. Red Flag - Getting any sort of information about my first day was like pulling teeth. The details changed 3 times. Red Flag - Onboarding is just a bunch of YouTube videos that they want you to rush through so they can start booking you for gigs. They have an internal database of information for help, but nothing about it is organized. Basically just a search bar that pulls random articles rather than seeking out what your search intent was. Red Flag - Multiple people tell you what to work on and when to prioritize it, but everyone tells you different things or gives conflicting information, so someone is upset at you regardless. Red Flag - Every piece of technology this company uses is out of date. I had to seek out downloadable files for the obsolete software they use on my own, because the particular software used was discontinued many years ago. My new work laptop ran slower than my 5 year old personal laptop. Red Flag - Fake military tough guy boss clearly gave up on me after 2 weeks on the job. Refused to ever look me directly in the eye during any of our meetings. Was never available despite saying he was, and always gave conflicting information. Everything I did was wrong, even when following direct orders. One time he even started our 1on1 asking why we were even meeting to begin with. Red Flag - The company car they gave me was in a different city 2 hours away, and they dumped the responsibility of picking it up on me. When I finally did get the car, it was severely damaged to the point where it would not have been considered drivable. Company got a repair shop for the car with a rental but it was an hour from home, meaning anytime I had to deal with them, it was a 2+ hour round-trip drive. Of course, my boss would get upset with me for "wasting time." Red Flag - Conversations with HR were brutal. The reps looked as if either they were on the brink of having a nervous breakdown or there was someone off camera pointing a gun at them. They struggled to put together coherent sentences, almost sounding like a toddler trying to piece together words for the first time. Red Flag - General feeling around the company is that of misery and depression. There was one all-hands call where they were actually bragging that "Employee Dissatisfaction" had dropped from the #1 to the #3 biggest negative about the company over the last year in internal surveys. Anyone in a position of power has either been with the company for 20+ years or is related to the original founder. After that, the longest tenured employee I encountered was at 18 months. Red Flag - Benefits and health insurance are essentially worthless unless you live in South Dakota. Pay is low, sales has no commissions, annual raises are lower than the national inflation rate, maternity leave is only 60% pay for 8 weeks, 401k match is low and not fully vested until 5 years employed. There are many growth opportunities available but don't expect to make more money. nasdaq:dakt https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=2515 Apr 11th, 2024 12:00AM Open Open Daktronics Sales Coordinator Sioux Falls, SD Good people but wages are low and slow to change Good People - in general everyone is helpful and friendly Home/Work Balance - never feel guilty about taking a day off or having an appointment Pay has always seemed low - I strongly suggest negotiated pay when initially hired, because in future years it will just be small increment raises even if you change roles. They can seem set in their ways - it is hard to implement change. They are still locked into a sales quoting software that someone internally designed 20 years ago and other outdate software/processes that could be better. After a while you just accept it. For most I'd say it decent job solely because it seems people do not want to work and very little is expected from a majority of the organization. Pay is really low especially if you are one of the few who produce results. Sure some people may try but they're inadequate for the work they do and they become managers. Products and personnel expertise have really fallen off the table in quality. Service leadership has got to be replaced. Internal equality is put above performance. Ie a sales person doing a ton of sales is paid close to the same sales person cashing paychecks and nothing else for the sake of equality.
