I really enjoyed the freedom and lack of micro management. The work was interesting but not very impactful. I liked the free lunch they catered a couple times a week. Great camaraderie, especially among peers.
|
On the other hand, there was hardly any mentorship. Analysts were promoted based on presentation skills. Sycophants were widely rewarded with promotions and stock bonuses. Ivy-League educated folks were the worst. Their follies included telling a colleague with two young daughters that he lived in a harem. The Founder talked about long-term perspective and fiduciary responsibility but left at the first sign of trouble to set up shop on other side of town. More shocking was human resources' rudeness with those leaving since they no longer had any leverage.
