Good is the different shifts. The bad is they dont work with people and is only getting worse. The human resource department has made the plant alot worse then what it was. Have really dragged there feet with the covid 19 and now have a out brack in the plant because of that. I used to enjoy working here, but every year it gets worse. Wouldn't recommend working here! Stressful, and you can never do enough for them. Management knew and did nothing about it. Workload was constantly overwhelming due to this. Temps were treated poorly. Started off with 3 days off then when they got comfortable suddenly we were given the option to work fridays despite temps being told they can’t work overtime til hired on. Then we didn’t have a choice. After that we were told we had to work Saturdays as well. 3 paid breaks 2 15min and a 30min. Weekly pay. Used to be 3 days off. Dental and vision Horrible management. But if you're willing to do your job, it's a good place to work. Standard hourly pay with a production based monthly "incentive" pay. It's easy to hit your production rate if you just do your job. There can be kinks in the line of work, but that's work. Several shifts to choose from. Relaxed environment, overtime, occasion company paid meals, events, and giveaways. The best part of Dorman is the people around you, though. (Not all, just the good ones) Pay, Production based incentive, flexible, Good people met Lazy people that make your job harder and/or less productive, communication. They just see you as a number now. Many good people walked out because of it. Supervisors are horrible at helping you with something. Bad time off system. Gets up to 90 degrees in the building during the summer. Not enough work to make rate. Pay. Weekly pay check. Job security, Management, High expectations. Dorman does not have a real day shift. Office Staff are the only people who see real life, day shift hours. Mgt continually screws with hours and has people coming in at 4 am, 6 am, back to 4am and so on! There is no time for family and they dont really care. There's pretty good money, gift cards, yearly party and incentive pay is all fine, but I repeat, there is no real day shift and that is terrible. The culture is changing fast in the last three years. It's louder and turn-over is high. People don't work for Dorman like in the old days, it's seems to be only for themselves. Lot's of drama and Leads that do not know how to lead, but rather play favorites with their buddies on the floor. All Leads need to be run thru a Dale Carnige Class before being allowed to tell someone what to do. They have benefits, Ot, Incentives . Dorman stock is up due to people fixing their cars vs buying a new one. They could care less about their employees or employees families. It’s all about who you are, who’s butt you’re kissing and what little click you happen to be in. They hire drug users and will give them a second chance before they give a long time employee that is having family issues. I know someone who worked there who’s son was in a serious accident and they wouldn’t cut her any slack. Worst place to work!!! Horrible Management Work-life balance The office supervisors, leads and HR already knew each other before working together. I was #1 picker most of the time. I made many changes to help things run smoother but since the supervisor hung out with certain employees after work and on weekends, if the co-workers didn't like it, my supervisor wouldn't make them follow it. HR lied and gave me points saying my family emergency wasn't covered by FMLA. Come to find out it was and I didn't get my points back for almost a year. We had people cussing others out on the sales floor, putting their hand on others to fight and people showing up extremely drunk and high. When I brought it to the attention of HR and my supervisor, it was brushed off because they were friends. Leads let employees run them instead of the other way around. The Plant manager spent more time having to apologize to employees face to face in order for corporate not to be called on him, than he did changing things. I have been deemed not rehirable when my only write ups are 2 write ups for errors. Turnover is extremely high and shouldn't be because the job itself is a good good job. But until HR and office management is taken care of, it'll be a company that falls and has the worst reputation in its own town and towns around it. Job security and advancement No job security Management Management doesn't associate with employees at this site unless they are friends outside of work. Overall HR, Plant Manager and supervisors are the main issue at this plant. The plant manager spent more time apologizing to employees for rude and harassing things he said than he did making good changes. HR and supervisor hang out on birthdays and get togethers with the employees they hired and protect. When their "friends" scream and cuss people on the sales floor, come in drunk/high or put their hands on others during a fight, they are protected and no action taken by supervisor. The turnover rate is SO high and to me that says more about management than employees. In the year and a half I was there, If I wasn't number 1 picker, I was in the top 5 every week. I have been deemed unrehireable which I find baffling.
