Decent job
|
One of the better minimum wage jobs I've had, co-workers were all really nice but management had issues with picking favorites for hours. Making drinks was fun and I got to try a lot of different teas and learn how to make them properly. However, they really push you to sell as much as you can to each customer which can be stressful if you're introverted it shy.

Horrible Company that does not respect its employees. Corporate is located in Canada and they are very disorganized and mismanaged. They send us marketing with wrong dates, misspelling etc.

Fun, inclusive work environment
|
I worked at David's Tea part time for a few months. It was a lot of fun even when we were super busy. You get to learn a lot about teas and brewing methods. You also get to drink teas all day! The dress code was laid back, you can wear whatever you want within reason but no nail polish and hair must be up. Overall a fun place to work!

Fun workplace!

Best place I worked for, however the permanently closed due to Covid and went to online retailing
Job was simple, learn about tea and the tea ware and sell, customers were always excited to see and learn about the product

Pretty good
|
DAVIDs was great. Very flexible with my school schedule. Wonderful colleagues. The discount was very appreciated and heavily used. The quality of the tea was excellent so it felt great being able to honestly talk about how much I loved the products without having to feel like I was just trying to get merchandise out of the store. But they only offered me benefits after I handed in my resignation.

No health benefits/hard to keep them. Sort of low pay

Unprofessional company
Not enough stuff at the head office leading to problems in stores
Disorganized at all levels
Got rid of thousands of employees when they closed down most of theirs stores and they didn't pay what they owed to the staff

time is invested in you
|
Personally, i left because things were changing too much at once, it became less about the tea and more about the merch (tea press, goblets, perfect spoons, etc.) and towards the end, working felt like a competition of who can sell the most constantly.
On the up side, our team worked well together. If you had any questions they would all answer you, if you had a problem they would help you sometimes without you even asking. Same thing for the management in-store, if you needed more time to understand the time would be taken for you to get the hang of what you needed.
If you wanna work there, you gotta be good at talking to people.

pleasant teamwork, easy to learn & will take the time to teach you

David's Tea in Review
|
At my retail store front:
Pros:
- Amazing work environment that was upbeat, inclusive, and present.
- The best management I've have (so far). Open minded, smart, kind, and balanced perfectly when to focus on you the individual to become more motivated and successful and when to focus on the store as a whole.
- Great product and nice clientele.
Cons:
- Kept all employee and management in the dark during the quarantine until we were emailed that our store was closing. I wish our store ammeter was more in the loop about it.

Best job I’ve ever had
|
Unlimited free tea on shift. I was lucky at my location and had amazing management who supported you and cared about your personal life and mental health. It was never uncomfortable asking for help, because they seemed like they genuinely wanted you to succeed. No dress code, so you could express yourself in anyway. Shifts become shorter during slow seasons also there was some competition over shifts but that would be my only comp
