Manufacturing Associates make low pay!
|
Unfortunately if your an Manufacturing Associate 1 to 3, the pay is really low for San Diego living and the amount of work you do. I believe Dexcom needs to revamp the Manufacturing Associate pay scale. Without Associates running the production lines, Dexcom makes no medical devices. The starting pay at McDonald's is $2 higher per hour then a Manufacturing Associate 1 starting pay. The shifts are normally about 11 hrs long 4 days one week then 3 days the following week. The turnover from 2023 thru 2024 has been significant basically all because the pay is too low.

Disconnect between management and workers
|
Fellow coworkers were awesome but I quickly learned management is not your friend. They actively try to find people doing things wrong as it's in their goals as leaders to "coach" others. Usually this just means that you get a lot of managers who just walk around all day staring at you. Also had an incident where management kept flip flopping on proper procedure because someone screwed up and caused extra work for workers.

Too Easy
|
Long hours but the pay was good. Did feel like they often picked favorites so it hard to get promoted. Very strict with breaks, 30 minutes for lunch and two 15 minute breaks.

Good benefits, profit sharing and great pay!
|
Been here a few years. Good people, Supervisors/Managers bend over backwards for their people. Excellent 401 k and profit sharing. All in all a desirable place to work. I do wish they had rotating Fridays off but that's not in the plan. Other than that, work hard, prove your a valuable asset and look at management feedback as a way to improve, not a way to bring you down.

Good place to intern to get insight into medical device industry

If you want to get insight into the medical device industry, Dexcom is a solid choice in my opinion. I also especially enjoyed the hybrid work mode, where I never had pressure to go into the office.
