Primary Job Responsibilities

Requirements

Overview

The Marketing Analytics Manager is experienced in using data to drive strategy, optimise campaign efficiency, understands incramentality and drive marketing effectiveness. You understand the dynamics of the competitive marketplace Gumtree is leading. You have a communication style that will allow you to engage with senior leadership and work across teams consisting of financial analysts, marketers, product managers and product developers to effectively deliver actionable results.

Responsibilities

  • ­­Set-up, manage, maintain and dashboards and reporting structure for operational metrics across marketing
  • Supporting marketing functions of digital performance, CRM, brand, PR, Social Media and content
  • Application of statistical, analytical and data synthesis skills to correlate business performance to marketing investments
  • Recognise user behaviour and competitive pressures to identify opportunities to improve marketing effectiveness and growth
  • Use advanced modelling to gain understanding and provide a clear narrative of the drivers/anchors of customer behaviour
  • Lead marketing teams in their interpretation of; campaign results, brand and performance health metrics, channel efficiency, optimisation & ROI, acquisition and retention drivers and strategic marketing tests
  • Modelling to understand role of channels and incrementality of marketing activity and implementation and mastery of tools to measure efficiency and effectiveness

Requirements

Successful candidates will have:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within the digital media analytics space
  • Proven ability in clearly defining a problem, collating the required information, analysing the results and synthesizing a compelling argument.
  • Very strong analytical, reporting and visualization skills
  • Advanced technical skills in Microsoft Excel and SQL. Experience with Hadoop (Pig, Hive, and/or Spark/Scala) and statistical analysis tools (R or Python)
  • Sound digital acumen and hands on experience in measurement, performance and optimisation tools (Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Attribution methodologies)
  • Sound knowledge of digital ecosystem (CRM, Google DBM, Adobe DMP/DSP, Salesforce/Krux)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to successfully work autonomously and partner across multiple functions in an organisation
  • The skill to distil complicated analyses/predictive models in an easy way to colleagues and management.

Strategic objective

The PR & Corporate Affairs Manager is responsible for developing and executing internal and external communication to proactively and reactively manage Gumtree's brand reputation to our consumer, corporate and internal audiences. For reactive PR, this includes strategy, issue and crisis management and media monitoring.  For proactive PR, we are looking for a PR professional who understands and has experience in strategy & corporate reputation management and understands how PR fits into the overall marketing strategy and the role it can play to amplify the brand.

The individual must be able to work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment with an emphasis on collective and collaborative teamwork.

The successful candidate will be someone who is on the forefront of the PR evolution, combining excellence in traditional PR with a deep understanding of today’s trends.

Key responsibilities

PUBLIC RELATIONS

  • Develop and implement strategic consumer and corporate communications plans and tactics that generate media coverage and business impact.
  • Develop communications materials including press releases, briefing sheets, speaking abstracts, press kit materials, fact sheets, source, testimonials and case studies;
  • End to end project management, including: writing insightful briefs, review / feedback and approval of proposals, meeting deadlines, time management, contingency planning, budgeting, project analysis and tracking;
  • Communicate consistent messaging and storytelling to employees, building their awareness of the brand and helping them to evangelize the company’s products and technologies.

CORPORATE REPUTATION MANAGEMENT

  • Develop effective issues management strategy and processes, which involve The Management Leadership Team, Legal Team, Public Relations and Government Relations to respond quickly and effectively to brand and corporate reputation threats. Ensure these fit into wider global crisis management processes;
  • Proactively manage & continually monitor corporate reputation;
  • Provide sound counsel to the Gumtree Leadership Team on issues management with a range of proactive and reactive strategies;
  • Maintain constructive, consultative relations by overseeing community communications programs leading up to, during and following significant site changes;
  • Maintain an ongoing level of preparedness by developing a program of media training, updating key messages and ensuring that emerging threats are identified and action is taken to mitigate them.

INTERNAL COMMS

  • Lead cross-company communications to ensure consistency of messages across the business

STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

  • Create and evolve strong relationships and partnerships with key external and internal stakeholder groups;
  • Develop and implement effective media relations strategies to build and support Gumtree’s reputation whilst mitigating risk. Responsible for providing media relations support and strategic counsel across both consumer and corporate media.
  • Work with cross functional range internal stakeholders both local and global.
  • Build effective relationships with external stakeholders from agency partners to government bodies.

FINANCE

  • Budget management, deliver all activity within the agreed budget;
  • Raise PO’s for all campaign expenses within the agreed budget
  • Ensure all invoices are received and processed in a timely manner

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION

  • Manage workflow across PR calendar to minimize peaks and troughs to deliver within specific times
  • Work collaboratively with the wider marketing team to ensure consistent messaging
  • Provide support to the Senior Marketing Manager in developing presentations as required.

REPORTING AND ANALYSIS

  • Monitor and report on projects effectiveness (Online & Offline) and provide recommendations for optimizations;
  • Reporting of monthly communication activity;
  • Complete power point presentations to communicate ongoing communication initiatives, including packs for CS briefings

ENGAGEMENT

  • Display a genuine interest in the operations of Gumtree
  • Be willing to go the extra mile in order to deliver outcomes

Selection criteria for success

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree qualified – Marketing / PR/ Communications;
  • 5+ years professional experience in an in-house or agency role;
  • eCommerce experience preferred

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE

The Retention Manager is responsible for delivering on Gumtree AU’s end to end customer retention strategy and planning for Gumtree Australia. Your aim is to understand our customer retention needs and help them unlock more value from Gumtree, in turn driving repeat behaviour across B2C and B2B audiences. In this role, you will experiment with / iterate on retention campaigns across email, push notifications, notification centre, app badging and paid digital channels. You will work collaboratively with wider marketing, product and global stakeholders to deliver creative solutions to reduce churn, increase LTV (lifetime value) across the board and grow repeat usage efficiently and effectively.

The individual must demonstrate a proven ability to be hands on, influence, be data literate, be results driven and able to work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment with an emphasis on collective and collaborative teamwork.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

STRATEGY

  • Contribute to - and execute - the retention strategy for Gumtree Australia
  • Develop innovative and data led initiatives to drive business goals
  • Identify initiatives designed to make Gumtree a habit-forming app amongst our consumer audience
  • Provide strategic guidance and execution support to our trade marketing team, helping their customers unlock greater value from Gumtree to drive retention and increase LTV
  • Develop content and communications approach to align with retention strategy

CORE INITIATIVES

  • Ideate, experiment and iterate on your winning ideas to make them scale
  • Work within the broader marketing team to deliver the retention portion of our holistic active user growth strategy.
  • Work with the broader tech and product team to execute next-level, data driven retention campaigns
  • Be “on the tools”, setting up and campaigns and user flows
  • Work collaboratively with wider stakeholders to support revenue driving initiatives
  • Develop audience segmentation approach through DMP and execute on omni-channel campaigns
  • Manage one CRM Specialist.
  • Manage multiple agency / vendor relationships.

LEADERSHIP & STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

  • Lead and influence the wider business on the criticality of retention
  • Align with marketing and product teams
  • Collaborate with local and global counterparts to foster shared learning

FINANCE

  • Budget management, deliver all activity within the agreed budget
  • Raise PO’s for all campaign expenses within the agreed budget
  • Ensure all invoices are received and processed in a timely manner

REPORTING AND ANALYSIS

  • Measure and report performance of all campaigns and initiatives, and assess against our mutually defined goals. Provide recommendations for optimizations
  • Align with local and global analytics teams to develop retention modelling
  • Align with marketing teams to set up reporting suite
  • Complete presentations to communicate ongoing retention initiatives.

SELECTION CRITERIA FOR SUCCESS

ABOUT YOU:

  • 6+ years’ experience in retention / CRM / loyalty marketing within a digital business.
  • Experience in omni-channel retention marketing including push, email, paid and other organic channels.
  • Familiarity with – and ideally experience with – building a single customer view based on data captured across multiple marketing channels, owned websites, apps and devices.
  • Solid grasp of digital test-and-learn best practice.
  • Experience using the Adobe Experience Platform, with deep experience in Adobe Campaign.
  • General ability with reporting, analytics and data, including basic SQL skills.

DESIRABLE:

  • A grasp of behavioural design principles
  • Basic knowledge of email design-and-build principles including HTML, CSS, basic Javascript.
  • Basic SQL skills
  • Experience in eCommerce, SaaS, online marketplace or online media highly valued.
