They do not care about anyone below the management level and will throw you under the bus to suit their needs. They will expect you to do the work of multiple people and will punish you when you do not complete it or request assistance. I really enjoy my job. Everyone gets along really well. Benefits are great. Customers can be a pain sometimes though. Everyone is very helpful if you have questions. Too much work and not enough workers, poor management, terrible raises/bonuses, toxic culture, poor leadership team, and complete lack of trust/accountability between departments and within departments. You’ll get poor training regardless of department as nearly every department burns out the hard working knowledgeable employees and the systems are outdated and unreliable. You can work there, learn about how banking works, then move on the one of the more stable banks in the area. A lot of the training is on the job, which can be good in some situations but bad in others. The coworkers are also great while you are there. They are very friendly and willing to help you. The Bad: The computer systems are outdated and run poorly. It is expected that you will work overtime and not just a little. Be prepared to work 20 to 30 hours overtime a week, especially right now. Since the bank continues to acquire other banks, they hemorrhage employees during mergers and thus dump all the work on their current employees. Expect to work hard to move up. Like other folks have said, if you say you are overworked, they expect you to just work harder and put more of your own time into the bank. The bank management also seems to just be concerned with shareholder value rather than their employees or even their customers. The Ugly: If you leave, be prepared to lose a lot of your work friends. Seems like the culture struggles with people moving on. There is a lot of roasting former employees about how they just could 'cut it' at Equity. It is sad when most of the people at the bank don't really seem to enjoy working there anyway. One should be prepared to work a lot, and meet deadlines or face disciplinary actions. Corporate attitudes have taken over and the customer and employees are afterthoughts. I was a customer first and then worked at Equity for a few years. Company was a positive place for work when I first started but the past two to three years the culture has completely changed. Upper management only cares about cutting costs to line their own bonuses. A split between shareholders is more important than the Customer or Employees. Employees are leaving left and right and employees are expected to take on multiple jobs for the same pay. There is no appreciation shown and when anyone tries to convey concerns to upper management they are told that the employees are “negative people” and you need to have a more positive attitude. Customer service has suffered because employees can’t focus on their jobs because they are pulled in every direction every day. And when you say something about how much is being put on your list of to do they don’t want to hear it. Being overworked is not working hard enough because they expect more from you than you have time in a day. Great health care benefits, incentives available if you work hard, great Vacation plan and sick leave, the people are truly amazing and hard working and very friendly.
