Growing and trying to continually improve structure as we grow. Care about employees i.e. during Covid and shut down they proved lunch to all branch employees everyday to help keep us safe. Some procedures are very inefficient and need to be updated. Hard to find a decision maker. If you have a special needs child, do not even waste your time! Everything was terrible. From having zero time for my children’s doctors appointment, I also had to clean poop sludge up from a coworker, management ignored any problem or concerns that I had. nasdaq:fbms https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=34825 Aug 2nd, 2022 12:00AM Open Open First Bancshares (MS) Terrible, short-sighted organization If you want to work for a bank that doesn't care about most of their employees and is primarily focussed on growing the bank through one-after-another rapid fire acquisitions to position to sell so the executive leadership team and board can cash out and make tons of money, this is the place for you! Seriously though, I think the CEO and the board started off the right way, focused on customers and the community. However, somehow somewhere along the way, they prioritized growth, profits, and empire building above long-term shareholder value and doing the right thing, always and no matter what. That's probably why their stock performance has lagged that of their peers for years. Disrespectful, old skool top-down, command and control management style. Hold info close to the vest, don't trust people, tell people one thing and do something differently... it's like a Harvard case study on how not to run a modern, successful organization. Also, pay scale is significantly lower than similarly sized organizations. CEO and board are actually probably competent and even talented, but they've surrounded themselves with "yes men" and folks who are WAY over their skis in terms of leadership qualifications. They're really a great big giant overgrown tiny bank, which makes sense considering they've Band-Aided together about 14 banks in less than a decade. The Bank is only as strong as its weakest link, and unfortunately for its staff and shareholders, weak links abound. -1.0 NEGATIVE 1.0 POSITIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 0.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 34825 Open Ask questions and actually listen to the feedback from your employees. And jettison weak/spineless leaders. There are several people in key roles that CANNOT make a decision or have a tough conversation to SAVE THEIR LIVES. And, unfortunately for those weak people in these jobs over their heads, I don't think they're smart or self-aware enough to understand how fast their heads will role when this bank sells out to a big giant super-regional bank right before The First hits $10 billion in assets.
