The workload and cutthroat culture doesn’t match the pay, however. The workdays are not very structured and typically consist of putting out fires that may or may not consist of anything related to you or your job title. People tended to talk bad about each other all the time, which is surprisingly unprofessional for an institution such as First Citizens. There is no room for advancement and the managers they hire know absolutely nothing on their task nor of their employees. It is very favorite based energy and have to be related to someone to move on up. We’re promised to work from home due to performance, now it has changed to coming into the office for the new hired supervisor of CAB to micromanage everyone. This job is also very draining and consuming. Coworkers will call and text while you are on PTO to make their jobs easier. Free lunches on Thursday. Free snacks and drinks. No advancement opportunity if you are good at your current job you are stuck with no way up except quitting and going elsewhere. PTO starts out pretty generously. You get paid volunteer hours, insurance, 401k, HSA/FSA, etc. Pay is inconsistent through employees, though, and while it should be understood that experience plays a role in that, I found that people were making vastly different wages for no apparent reason. No weekends, so work life balance can be decent and, in my time here, I’ve been in at 8:30 and out by 5:30 so nothing crazy with extra or unanticipated hours. However, working at this bank has been the most verbally and mentally abusive job I have ever had. Not from a management standpoint, but a customer standpoint. Everybody is different, and maybe it just comes down to the fact that banking is probably not for me, but this is the most mentally taxing job I have ever had. And I’ve worked at a lot of different places, in a lot of different industries. Customers are the worst and, at the end of the day, that’s what the job is: dealing with the customers. Work Culture here is the worst I've ever seen in any workplace. You're talked to if you are 1 minute late. You can't leave your work station to quickly munch on a snack or else you'll be talked to. You're watched like a hawk, and treated like a child. Intense Mico-managing. After 3 months in, I was still having to do virtual training modules almost all day long, that were extremely boring. Typical old school office politics. If you really give 100% to learn everything and pressure them to teach you more, they will look down on you and view you as a threat to their own career advancement. Just a really terrible place to be employed. Most of us have had an employer like this in the past, and it really takes a toll on your happiness and morale. Every little error you make, will be magnified, as if human error especially in a new job isn't a thing. RUN FAR AWAY.
