Job mobility and pay are not great. Most people are pigeonholed into one particular job. Very few people get multiple positions within the company. Those that do have good leadership within their vertical, or have worked each position for 5-10+ years and have no plans to go anywhere else.
I worked in 2 positions and out worked nearly all of my counter parts. Saving the company, one year nearly 250K by myself. Just to receive a 2.5% increase in pay and a "meets expectations" and no bonus (Every review). Also, within 6 months of transitioning out of each position, learned that counter parts were getting paid 10K-30K more a year than me while I was training them and picking up their slack.

Focus on the basics. Develop your team internally to fit the roadmap for the years ahead. Not every position is an external hire, some employees can rise to the occasion if they are given a clear vision of what the future could/should look like. Your teams will loose heart if you can't support and encourage them.

Muchos son gerentes por su sueldo, no por que tengan gente a su cargo y tienes mucho tiempo libre para tratar de micromanejar a empleados que no son de su área.
