Pay is not so good ever since bonuses were eliminated. The department use to be ok but leaders don’t appear to care anymore. Ever since the new VP came and other tenured leadership left, the department fell apart. One day they want one thing and the next it changes. They do this to manipulate compensation for their bankers. My most recent position is Commercial Client Support level 2. If you happen to read this and are a current employee, I beg you not to accept this position. There is no training for tech or armored departments. When I say no training, I mean no training at all. The supervisor directly over the department openly brags about having zero product knowledge and spends every day reacting to internal employee complaints, when they should be helping support team members and the client base. They absolutely love attending meetings rather than improving the overall environment, and if you were to ask directly for help they refuse. This is not an exaggeration. The way this company decides who and when to promote is completely non-sensical. Management practices here discouraged me so much I went from being awarded as a top performer to being another mentally checked out cubicle worker. Every branch is different, so hope that you get placed at a medium traffic branch. If not, you will either be at risk of being closed or you will be so busy that you’ll be wondering why other colleagues in the same position are making the same amount as you. If you are a manager expect to work overtime even at a traditional branch (missing lunch). Fifth third claims to put the customer first but at the end of the day it’s all amount money and how many products you can push. This leads to high turnover in every market. Avoid Fifth Third Bank. You have to be positive working here. It’s goal oriented and not for everyone. If you don’t hit your goals they will hound you. BUT they will also help you and they give you months of training ahead of time. They just don’t throw you to the wolves right off the bat. The work culture here has CHANGED dramatically since years past. It’s a wonderful place to work. However, if you cannot take the heat of a sales environment steer clear. Pay, benefits, rewarding, advancement opportunity Goal driven.
