Good company

Great hours, major holidays off, great management that is interested in my goals and helping me accomplish them
Slight turnover leaves the ones still working short handed, leaving customers frustrated with the front line.

More call center/IT support. Can sometimes be on the phone trying to reach someone for help for 20 minutes. Very frustrating for employees and customers.

An acquisition bank that doesn't care about it's branches.
Good vacation and sick time
Terrible insurance options, and the insurance that is offered does not care about basic life needs. Higher ups do not care about branch employees. They constantly buy other banks and the merge is the worst experience. Lots of empty promises are made to the newly merged banks.

NEVER work at First Mid. HORRIBLE pay, EXPENSIVE benefits, WORTHLESS management.
If you are lucky you might be able to get a good manager. They will make the attempt to advocate for you, it won’t go anywhere with upper management but they do make it slightly nicer to work there. I think if you’re friends with the CEO it might be a pretty cushy job. You can get hired in with no experience and do less work.
First Mid is a big supporter of the wage gap between men and women. Men are hired in often times at a higher wage than their female manager. Age is also a big issue with First Mid. They seem to either completely underpay older employees or force them into early retirement. An older coworker I had had been there for almost 15 years and was just making the company’s minimum wage but a younger male made $2-3 more per hour than her after a year. The company lost all sense of community during the pandemic. It was every man for himself and make sure you step on as many people as you can to get ahead in the company. They love to pat themselves on the back with all the manager training they do. You’ll see it all over LinkedIn. That goes in one ear and out the other. Managers will allow their employees to work themselves to death while they ‘work remotely’. They will disappear for the entire day while baby sitting their children instead of attempting to help their staff at all. Staff will get yelled at for missing a single phone call after trying to take their first bathroom break at 3:00 and not getting a break all day. When the department is doing good they will take all the credit for it but when it’s going bad those managers will be the first to throw the hourly employees under the bus. The benefits are so expensive, they will suck your entire paycheck dry. They pay salary employees out very sizable bonuses and then brag that they give hourly employees a $500 bonus for the holidays.

Actually listen to employees. Be present. Managers that are never in the office do not benefit the company. When you have an employee working themselves to death and a manager who cannot and will not help you’ve got a big issue on your hands.
