I gave feedback and suggestions in an email when leaving with no response from management which only proved their narrow minded approach. No exercise equipment or classes on offer to release natural endorphins, tension and anxiety for the children. Just lots of sugar on offer reflecting in their behaviour. However, getting to know the children at Amicus and attempting to make their day more joyful, all be it a small part in a big story gave some comfort. I only wish I could make more of a difference to them. Staff are young and inexperienced or just not that well connected to the children which may be because they aren't supported enough. Don't go into this role lightly. Now majority of people are working from home and they have laid off a bunch of people they shut down the Cranbury site and have moved everything to Philadelphia. The flexible culture mixed with the "we get it done" attitude made for great productivity and work/life balance. For the most part, management was great--I think this was one of the strong-suits of Amicus. They have solid leadership, which trickles down the chain and creates a supportive environment. Best thing about Amicus is their mission and dedication to their patients. I learned so much about a day in the life of a rare disease patient and felt my work was contributing to the greater good of the company and rare disease community. I was lucky to spend 2.5yrs there and 10/10 would recommend!
