Long hours they do not pay for any out of town expenses. They do pay a per deim of 380 per week but that if you only wor a full 7 days and we all know you cannot even rent a bad hotel for 380 a week. if you work less than the 7 days its pro rated -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 NEGATIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 0.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 1.0 2.0 1.0 1.0 18339 Open Pay the rooms for the men You do it for the salary people 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 6.0 Open Apr 25th, 2024 07:14PM Apr 25th, 2024 07:14PM Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Industrials Construction & Materials

nasdaq:gldd https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=18339 Mar 12th, 2024 12:00AM Open Open Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Used to be great, now not sure it the frustration is worth it Great history, cool business, interesting work, respected company, decent pay and benefits Between the retirement buy-outs and then moving Corporate, most of the old timers, experience, culture and family aspect is gone. It’s like a revolving door with most of the corp side coming from oil and gas with no dredging experience, and then bailing a few months later when O&G offers more money. Project folks now have too little experience, management sees employees as replaceable commodities and overhead. Way too many manual processes, so change is welcome, but too much change too fast without proper training isn’t helpful. They keep pushing tech but the IT team was cut and most of it outsourced, so there aren’t enough people to help with the technology they keep pushing out, and the outsourced helpdesk is useless. Management wants more more more, but wants it without spending money or hiring more people, so they just want the people still here to work harder and do more with less. It’s a frustrating place to work right now. -1.0 NEGATIVE 1.0 POSITIVE -1.0 DISAPPROVE 0.0 3.0 1.0 3.0 2.0 4.0 2.0 0.0 18339 Open I know finances were tight, but they’re getting better - you have to hire back some of the positions that were reduced, and you need to prioritize keeping the existing employees, even if that means getting them help and paying them more to match the new Houston scale. You also need to stop bringing in external new hires for management positions and promote from within. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 20.0 Open Mar 15th, 2024 09:05AM Mar 15th, 2024 09:05AM Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Industrials Construction & Materials

nasdaq:gldd https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=18339 Feb 1st, 2024 12:00AM Open Open Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Houston, TX Projects are ALWAYS Working One major upside at GLDD is that projects are always working. New engineers get to go the field within weeks of being hired and get to help on active construction projects. Because we have so many ongoing projects, upper management allows employees to contribute and make decisions at a much higher rate compared to giant construction companies. The dredges work 365 days / year so the company, as a whole, never sleeps. That means issues are always coming up, even during weekends and holidays, so it can be hectic catching up. 1.0 POSITIVE 1.0 POSITIVE 0.0 NO_OPINION 0.0 5.0 4.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 5.0 18339 Open Keep working to flesh out the field support staff. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 4.0 Open Feb 3rd, 2024 03:10PM Feb 3rd, 2024 03:10PM Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Industrials Construction & Materials

Example-#1 a Deckhand shouldn’t have to train a Newly Hired Captin that has no experience. Just A good resume that’s mostly falsified. Example #2 An 5 year experienced oiler shouldn’t have to train a newly hired employee hired as A Chief Engineer that has no background. We need more than pencil and paper pushers. Lack or knowledgeability and having a solid Mechanical back ground only gets you so far. I see no dedication there’s only a few but allot of the surroundings have no initiative. 0.0 [] REGULAR No Yes 0.0 Open Dec 14th, 2023 09:35PM Dec 14th, 2023 09:35PM Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Industrials Construction & Materials
