Sexual harassment is rampant as there are very few females in the office. All females they hire have to be vetted by the male dominated IS team and they value appearance over experience for female hires. The absence of an HR department obviously enables this atmosphere. Employees are coached and coerced into writing positive Glassdoor reviews – or they are written by one of the minions. No one dares to say “no” or write a true review (I do see a couple recent, honest reviews) because the wrath of the CEO and his hench(wo)men would be fast and furious. The CEO is always looking for the next shiny object (Epigenetics – YouSurance). He moves from idea to idea with no real results or profits. He’s going to “sell” his ideas whether they are legit or not. Though he professes to care about the employees, they are all just numbers to him, cogs in the wheels of GWG. Employees are forced to learn and adhere to the teachings of the fraud scam artist, Napoleon Hill. The only ones cashing in on Hill’s “get rich” philosophy is the CEO and his high level executives. The company’s push for transparency is a joke. Again, employees cannot be honest out of fear for their jobs. Employees are used and abused and either leave because they can’t take it anymore or are terminated when they are no longer useful. It has been hammered home that employees are lucky to have a job at such “an amazing, cutting edge company” and are replaceable if they step out of line. Some employees are so desperate to keep their jobs that they will do anything – including selling their soul. There are so many shady things going on within the business and it's shocking GWG hasn’t imploded. nasdaq:gwgh https://www.glassdoor.com?employer_id=974969 Mar 5th, 2019 12:00AM Open Open GWG Holdings Non-Management Minneapolis, MN owners are visionaries. management are lazy yes men. many incompetents abound yes gwg, owners are visionaries and keep the company alive, without the owners and the top 5 percent of the real talent this company would be 1 star, they know who they are. goes to show you dont need many people to be successful. each department has 1 or 2 key people who really make the company function. they rest are collecting a pay check. mainly management who produce nothing but give the illusion they are like master magicians want you to go the extra mile but will never ever go to extra mile for you overly micro managed. managers love applying all these different time management systems and review systems and they cant agree on just using one. they have to use 50 different systems to burden and confuse employees so they look important but dont actually do anything. management cant remember your personal growth probably because they are all high and have short term memories so it is the only way management can exists at this company and remember anything to review. it seems like they only put over themselves and need a computer to tell them or remind them how you perform. they could never actually remember what you did to perform without a computer to tell them. i would hate my life if i had to wake up everyday figuring out a way to exist with no talent through micromanagement schemes. imagine if any great nasdaq company worked like this such as google or amazon worked liked this. they are laughing at gwg. gwg wants to be a tech company but they are stuck in between wall street and silicon valley with no way out. old guard running things and very primal. prepare to be in fear of speaking out against all this too. the most controlling people become management through their exceptional skill of kissing up without producing. i feel bad for some departments for how many required meetings they are so that controlling managers feel they are contributing but really arent. this is the honest truth. Open floor office layout - loud, no confidentiality and exceptionally distracting. Management - lack of focus and generally incompetent. The business decisions are impulsive and random. CEO is undisciplined and nutty (to put it nicely). Bad Benefits - no corporate match on 401k despite being in the financial industry (?!). Low Salaries. Bad bonuses. Underperformance of company as a whole. No maternity leave (despite a two week paternity leave). Provide a clear, defined goal for the company and stick with it. It feels like the direction of this company is dictated by a squirrel or a toddler - we don’t know where we are going or how we will get there. When senior management does come up with a new initiative, give us the time to do due diligence so we know how to successfully execute it, then allow us the time to actually execute it. The CEO is often so impatient that we cannot see initiatives through to completion before he pivots. I started two months ago and my transition was great. Friendly staff and helpful managers made me feel welcome right away. Competitive salary and benefits and great stock options and bonus structure. The company has an innovative and start-up kind of feel.
