Very Easy work just so many cliques
|
Typical work.day consists of setting up.your day in advance, and then watching all fall a part as soon as the work day begins. It falls apart due to customers and the three bosses and senior guys having a different take on your day and their needs. Get to site and talk with customer and change plans again. Getting to work finally, and hopefully no one calls and adds work or alters the plan again..oh wait that always happens. Manage expectations. Traverse the politics of the ruling cliques and hope you don't inadvertently incurr their rath of one of the clique leaders. If you do you will discredited and ridiculed.. My area ans wxerince will very to yours depending on you areas nepotism and friends who have been hired. so unless your "lucky enough to be a relative or a friend rhat was brought in you won't really be trained well or set up for success. So be prepared to be the catch all guyand to be very submissive to your ruling class. So for OJT try and figure out and do your homework before hand if you can. about the work your being asked. Be prepared to do must of not all.the days work wand let your coworker do whatever they need to while in the room.that it helps if you ask to do all the steps so your instructive coworker can field calls from customers and friends and coworkers. Essentially they want to be in the room. Oh and this more than likely will all the training your gonna get unless they like you.so be liked.
Just know that technical support hotline number and where to.find tech manuals. These resources are pretty good and if you really get into trouble they can will.help either by phone or remote connectivity.
The point being is that it's pretty much sink or swim. So if you are lucky enough to get training pay attention and take charge of your own training while trying and notes. If you don't you get labeled as hopeless very quickly and your career is limited and frustrating. But then again if your family member or friend your results will be much more accommodating and more forgiving. Good thing is if you inadvertently make someone Madd they will degrade your reputation unfairly for months before your essentially rated as a lost cause and and fair game.
Slowly youll.be start to feel so solated you'll just go away or get fired. So big takeaway don't make anyone mad and try not to screw up anything and learn as fast as you can and don't make anyone above or below you feel insecure.
So keep you head down do everything you can to be as effective and independent as possible. It's easy work great pay but the metrics and pleasing or satiating your coworkers in a way harder and important than doing the job correctly or feeling comfortable.
Oh never make your boss look.bad. just know that everyone counts on you knowing your job throughly quickly and that if you don't know how to do something you better call tech support and hope they don't lead you astray because if they do your life is now harder and your are being judged by coworkers! Fake it until you make it. Just remember to do all that every day and pray you don't let anyone know you made a mistakes and you'll be fine. Oh and different is not appreciated here. Hive mindset. So the good thing is just suppress any of your individualness and resistance and innovative thinking is severely frowned upon. Go alone and you may just get along.

Great pay for the industry. Easy job if you can surrender all frustration and individuality.

Senior leadership is disconnected

Leadership floats on a different cloud. Usually teams have been cut and never replenished. They are at about 40% workforce of what is needed. People come in at 6:45am, and leave after 6pm. There are at least 40 projects going on at a time, and all have high priority. As a result nothing gets done.
People are very stressed due to high pressure. So all present limited data.
If you are sick, leadership yell at you asking why you didn't reply to your emails.
You are supposed to answer your emails in the evening and during night time. Weekends is mandatory work days.
One of the most horrible experiences ever.

I worked 8 years for Hologic, and I did enjoy working there, the most enjoyable part of my job was exceeding my costumers expectations and taking care of them, although my geographical area was very extensive, one year I took 236 flights, this position is not for the weak of heart. The hardest part of my job was in my last year at Hologic being very busy during Covid I was working almost 100 hours per week installing, repairing and maintaining the equipment to get the throughput that was expected due to the demand,
