ALL ABOUT FAMILY
I am currently driving the fleet for all 48 States. This is the four weeks out; 4 days off schedule. I can tell you that when this company says they are all about family, and we need to be routed home, or rerouted on emergency due to family urgency (of any kind)…no matter where we are in the country, my team and all others on after hours shift for that matter, have been more than on top of it. My father’s health declined rapidly, and I had to get home stat! My account load assignments that were assigned for two following loads after I completed the one i was currently running (GA/TN/GA …completed and I was to go to NC from GA and from NC to WI. They had me off the last two so fast I forgot they were assigned. They had me take MTY (initially required to drop back where I picked up preloaded from shipper). Instead they redirected me to Millis yard in GA, drop MTY, with an immediate relay (original live load assigned to different driver). This was supposed to go to Pepsi in Orlando, FL (live unload) with a minimum detention (EVERY SINGLE TIME) time there of 7 hrs…Heartland went the extra mile and found yet another driver to relay a third leg; had me drop the loaded relay at our CFI yard (where I have my car parked). This way I could drop the trailer, secure my unit, and log out end of shift immediately upon arrival. If they hadn’t, I wouldn’t have made it to my dad in time: in fact, I clocked 1900 miles total from time of request to reroute on emergency to dad’s bedside. I was 11 miles to destination and was told by my sister he passed. I was so upset I cried to the point hyperventilating. Upon entering my dad’s room, I heard his aspersions and saw his labored breathing still. The nurse from Hospice hadn’t even called time of death yet: I made it (by the skin of my teeth, having 463 additional miles to run in personal car once I parked truck)… i wasn’t quiet nor calm about my presence and having arrived …by any means…my dad tried opening his eyes but could only get one opened (which was fine). Lmao
I arrived at 11:55, nurse called it official at 12:10, and he still hadn’t passed. My sister said her final goodbyes and I love yous (as she was there since 8 am, and nurse gave me time with dad/privacy). They both left the room, I went to kiss him and talk to him a bit, and realized he hadn’t passed, not sure what that was all about but he was 100 for sure still hanging on…i had said something that made him cry happy tears (as did I), and had two drops come out from corner of eye and drip down the bridge of his nose. I wiped it and kissed him and saw his eye open again. Heard a little moan as if he were trying to talk, and saw him breathing (not discolored, nor cool to the touch, still warm). Called my sister to come back in (she is also a nurse), she confirmed I was correct and dad was still with us!!! She left us to be together alone again, and for the next 22 mins, I laid my head on his chest and held my hands close to him kissing and rubbing my hands to his cheeks; telling how wonderful he is/had always been, letting him know some things he taught me while being raised up, were learned even if it didn’t seem like I was listening…and so on I just tried to tell him everything possible on short amount of time (not knowing how much time we really did have, we were already on borrowed time as it is. Because of Hearland’s serious nature and approach taken when told family urgency requires asap hometime, I was able to have that very special moment with my wonderful dad, for which not many people would be able to relate. I am so grateful to them for this.

Not many terminals on the east coast (not really many central either)…don’t really come close to any terminals when there is one in the state I’m running, and if I’m lucky to get to one..it’ll be a quick drop/hook turn around and go; so it doesn’t even matter. Also, 9/10 bay washes are either not working, or closed when I do Make it ro terminal

Excellent Company
I enjoyed the atmosphere and time I was with Heartland. If you were willing to work, they were willing to make sure you had the work to keep you busy.
I've heard things have changed since I worked for Heartland. I hope it's only rumors.
