We almost had it,. To bad the CEO / CFO killed it. Worked from first day of IPO until I left on my own.
The Engineering team are some of the best guys and girls I have worked with. The tech is cool and you will be able to get down and dirty with it.
The CEO dose not see workers as people, just replaceable cogs that "we will deal with when they leave".
He cant motivate water to fall out of a bucket if that bucket had no bottom. Blinded by the get rich quick path. Complete lack of communication in the company coupled with a very real ignorance of the industry. Despite warnings from employees about the issues with products, long term plans, customer experiences you name it, if you cant tell the CEO his plan is on point and you'll meet the insane deadline then you are wrong. If you do end up working here as a contractor you are going to be handed a pile of crap from a team that is beyond broken.

Employment at Ideal Power? Keep walking.....
A Paycheck, little else comes to mind.
Plenty. You would most likely work for the micromanaging company co-owner (Dir. of Engineering). Work culture and environment is like being in North Korea, so you are watched constantly, and assessed (work quantity and quality) under a microscope daily. The Eng. Director has no people skills, and little real world experience, so R&D lab work is all he knows. He works off of opinions/perceptions, not facts, so work is a real grind. No future there at Ideal, and also no HR dept, run like a zoo ---- even Dan (CEO) doesn't know what is going on in the lab.

Benefit package, great employee atmosphere, good solid product.

Constantly working to hit deadlines and goals that aren't easily attainable. Pretty stressful. Not much room for advancement.

I lasted one and a half hours.
I wish I could have stayed long enough to discover the pros!
I interviewed with Ideal Power for a short-term contract position converting their old manuals to Framemaker. The interviewers were all pleasant, but seemed to have very little idea of how to evaluate my skills. They also were not aware that clients are supposed to supply W2 contractors with laptops and other supplies! Fortunately I was able to supply my own. After a delay of nearly a month, I arrived at their workplace to be presented with a part-time schedule! They had allotted 80 hours for my contract, spread out over four weeks. Nothing in the interview process or in the contract I signed indicated that the work was part-time. When I expressed shock, Ideal Power decided I wasn't a "good fit" and terminated me. So not only have I no contract, I lost about four weeks where I could have been looking for other work. Not cool, Ideal Power. Not cool.
