The Medicines Company
|
A unique array of specialist/niche products distinguished among clinicians and are a pleasure to support. First rate training, truely collaborative peer to peer and management interface. Robust aspirations with launch products, generous incentives, past experience acknowledged and honoured as worthwhile, with significant autonomy extended. Disappointingly, critical occurrences outside Aus/NZ caused severe global company wide retraction, resulting in folding of 5 year company & product Australian launch after only 2 years (despite rocketing sales and base customer support and advocacy). Such is life; was great while it lasted.

Great place before all the layoffs . Culture changed from eat what u kill to big pharma with Aventus control and still remained after they left. Clive a bit of a manic disaster but decent forward thinking leader. Unfortunately laid everyone off with clives big dreams of a big pharma 1000 rep company. Clive should have been removed sooner

The Medicines Company has re-defined itself multiple times in the past several years, devising a patent expiration strategy for a blockbuster drug, acquiring many new products only to divest all but one of them, which they're perusing now. With recent re-direction to pursue Inclisarin only, I wish them continued success in the future.

Fake all including the management and CEO. Not organized but with expectations of big pharma. Not transparent at all with the employees. The Brits took over and look where they are now. Sold all portfolio and hopefully after they laid off almost all the employees they are hoping to get back. Of course if successful with the Orion trial and get approved by FDA they will sell to big pharma.

Good Company that didn't meet it's potential
|
I was hired by the CEO to come in and make a difference and notify him of issues that needed improvement and develop better customer relationships. It was small PhRMA, but Sales and Marketing was run like Big PhRMA, which hurt the company. Hiring of leadership positions in Sales and Marketing was nepotistic. It was a Yes man leadership model and people were promoted to positions because they knew someone, not necessarily based on performance. I worked at corporate and in the field with reps and customers. The company had a lot of potential back then (this is not todays Medicine Company) and much of it could exist today, with smarter business decisions and understanding of what leadership was being told of what customers were doing, which was ignored. Hiring leadership that had no history of working with certain classes of drugs and thinking we can launch drugs like we did previously at a larger drug company, created delays of sales, and then the divestment of the cardiovascular line to Chiesi and anti-infectives to Melinta and other drugs to Mallinkrodt.

Management
|
While the pay was incredible the managers were often hostile, condescending and really just mean. Unfortunately, even higher management did not support the front line sales force when issues were brought to their attention.

Great Place to Work
|
The Medicines Company was a great place to work. They paid very well and the advancement of the employee was always a consideration. I would never have left if the divestiture did not occur.

Good people, sense of urgency
|
Great people who wore many, many hats. Products were innovative and fun to represent, but the sense of urgency to get sales and combined with high quota's created some stress.

Nice
|
Great company that grew overtime and lost it's initial culture. Distracted by growth, the company expanded and struggled to meet stockholders demands. The 3 divisions were inedpendent of eachother and the profitable division was sold unexpectedly, putting several on the street. The other divisions soon followed and the original CEO was pushed out.
