It was a job.
As a contracted employee you don’t clock in and out so if you’re a little late to work it wasn’t a big deal.
|
Contracted employees were promised permanent roles within 3-6 months of employment but nobody was given that.
If you asked about a permanent role they would give excuses like “you have to stay in this department for a year if you get the permanent role, you can’t move up until then.”
Contracted employees do NOT get PTO, 401k match, parental leave, tuition assistance, stock options, bonuses, raises… you can get insurance through the recruiting company but it is VERY expensive and coverage is limited.
Managers will lie to your face when you bring up issues and what would help to resolve them.
Hours are long and you depend on other people taking breaks appropriately in order to get your own.
They tell you in the interview you will get the permanent offer in 3-6 months but after that time they try to say that the company budget cannot allow more people to be permanent employees. So why make those promises in the first place?
The biggest perk we had was a 4 day work week and they wanted to switch to 5 days, then wanted to change the days of the week we worked.

Don’t make promises you have no intention of keeping.
Don’t tell people they can’t talk about their pay rate.
Hold employees accountable for coming to work on time and only taking the breaks they are supposed to.
Offer the permanent position within 3-6 months, don’t make people beg for it and wait additional months for the company to “be ready.”
