I think management could be more personable with it's employees. We're also human and experience the same emotions as any other person. We too get overworked and stressed out, which one of my coworkers recently experienced a heart attack in the workplace. Both physical and mental health of any employee matters just as much as your own.

Constant changes in the gas prices that we as a company couldn’t control, so lots of angry customers. Nothing we could do but give crappy advice to customers on how to save on gas/electricity

The SOC (system operations center) has a great group of people many of whom were like my second family after 9 years working there. I was very happy working there despite it being challenging and stressful at times. The SOC supervisor is the best I've ever had who will come talk to you in person and not just send emails. He is an advocate for the people who work for him and gets results from him people with near perfect performance. The company pays well, good retirement and the best insurance around with an HMO.

Covid was a tough time for a lot of people and companies. Due to the OSHA mandate MGE was going to charge up to $100 week for testing to keep your job. If they followed suit as some other companies, such as the hospital system my wife worked for. I was terrified they would then allow no exceptions to vaccinations like the hospital systems and fire anyone who was unvaccinated. I could not get vaccinated due to a heart condition and blood clots that I fought for 8 months that killed the greater saphenous veins down in both legs. The clots turned into a DVT and I required surgery eventually despite 6ml of injections into my abdomen daily so you can understand my reluctance to get vaccinated and fear. I was very disappointed in the company at this time and afraid so I resigned after I found another job. I regret leaving the company though and none of my fears came to pass at MGE

HR could more tactful and empathetic in their employee communications. I know Covid was difficult and unprecedented but I think had there been a different tone in the communications showing reluctance but that their policies were being forced upon them that perhaps so many employees wouldn't have left. The company lost a lot of good employees and the employees lost a good company as result. A lose/lose situation.
