Worst Place I Have EVER Worked

Vacation day (PTO) accrual is decent (but also weird)

*All around a very toxic work environment. My biggest regret was ever taking a job with this company.
*Low Salary with an extra heavy workload
*Micromanagement (monitored if my status went offline for even a bathroom break!)
*Most of management or anyone beyond entry level that I met was recruited externally. Nobody sticks around to be promoted for a reason.
*Managers are poorly trained and do not know how to actually people manage (blame will be solely passed on to you)
*They have weird PTO policies. They force you to use it in 4 hour chunks
* I'm used to finance spaces lacking in diversity, but wow beyond the outsourced employees its noticeably bad. To put it in perspective I don't think I ever interacted with a Black man during my entire time with the company (Usually at least the men are diverse in finance!)

Experience is inconsistent between various teams and departments, quality of management varies a lot too.

* Professional and compassionate managers in some of the departments
* Ability to be promoted or move to other teams/departments
* Comfortable and quiet office
* Slow and relaxed pace in comparison with most other large companies in the financial sector
* Good life-work balance
* Multicultural environment, mostly free of ethnic stereotyping
|
* Salaries are not the worst, but they are not in line with larger financial institutions.
* Incompetent, self-absorbed, hostile or manipulative managers in some of the departments. Some feedback sessions end up looking like maoist self-criticism sessions more than anything.
* Some teams have wonderful friendly people and cherish a culture of cooperation and community-building. Yet other teams have a culture of suspicion, snitching and hostility. The experience will vary gretaly depending where you end up.

When employees join or move to a different team, they get to play russian roulette with the choice of managers. Some teams are amazing, but others are abusive.
The top management should take a very close look at those teams/deepartments that have high turnover rates, espeically if that turnover rate involves experienced or senior well-paid analysts.
If a team has high turnover rates, high percentage of employees on sick leave and a lot of employees seeking to move internally to a different team... that means there's a problem there. Abusive managers, toxic team atmoshpere and inconsistent expectations across the company are the big problem.
Fix that. Firmly implement pro-employee norms across the whole company (that already and are upheld exist in some 50% of departments) and you will have a first class work environment. Take a good look at managers of high turnover rae teams and fire the onees that create a toxic atmosphere.
